Blackwork

Post by Solitaire »

I love my cross stitch but fancy trying something different, can anybody recommend some good sites that show how to do Blackwork, but not videos as I only have dial up and they won't load properly.

Have looked on some sites but they don't really explain very well

And blackwork doesn't have to be done in black, either! If you can do back stitch or running stitch, you can do blackwork. It's really very simple. Works up quickly, too.

Yay, another one! :)

Serinde is right; all you really need is back and running stitch. If you feel like you want expert guidance, http://www.needlework-tips-and-techniqu ... nners.html has some low-cost charts for download. They walk you through the "recommended" path to follow for reversibility. You can see the owl I did here. For me, the confidence boost was worth the super low expense. :)

I have a few scraps of Aida 14, so will experiment on them before I decide to go ahead and buy anything :)

There are some fun little freebies at Wyrdbyrd's Nest as well. :) I only mention the other one as a non-video tutorial experience :)
