2011 Stitching Resolutions

Post by Slinky »

Rose's thread "Are You Satisifed?" about the amount of stitching we've achieved this part year got me thinking about my planned stitching for next year.

I have always admired Christmas stitching, not just cards, but bigger framed pieces which can be displayed during the Christmas period.

So for 2011 I have decided only to stitch Christmas-themed designs, with the aim that, by the end of the year, I will have several festive pieces to display!

That said, I do want to complete Water Tiger first and no doubt there'll be a few greetings cards thrown in from time to time, and I don't think I have any large projects for others pending (for a change), so in 2011 my stitching will all be about me!!  (& Father Christmas!)

I think my resolution will be to stitch all my birthday cards in 2011, I have loads of aida scraps and loads of pretty charts but I'm usually a last minute person with birthdays so end up buying them! Not next year I tell you! :D

My resolutions are to stitch up the Francis of Assisi quotation in time for DH's uncle's memorial service in March, and to stitch models of all my new Hardanger designs. And in between I can do what I please :-)

The only new years resolution I have is to stitch more things for me. The last 2 years most of my projects have been for family and friends, well Dean has been going mad at me for not doing anything for me anymore so next year I wanna try :D

No resolutions as they just don't happen plus I have another DS turning 50 mid year. After that I hope to spend time doing stitching for me - unless the older GC start getting engaged etc.

I really want to stitch little designs for cards - I've never done a card before!! Only problem is - I've no idea where to buy the cards and envelopes, for that purpose!

Apart from that, I have a few charts in my stash I'm looking forward to starting - but no deadlines on them. I'm just going to sit back, relax and enjoy every stitch!! :D

Finish "Ying-Yang"
Start/finish "Gunsmith Cats"
Finish "Rose of Peace" stumpwork rose
Finish mandala box

That's not much compared to most, but it will mean stitching regularly.

My stitchy resolutions for 2011 are:

1. Finish the alphabet afghan for Xan in time for his 3rd birthday (end September)
2. Get back to my HAED Butterflies Galore Bookmark (which I'm stitching on 18-count so it's larger and I plan to have it framed
3. Continue taking part in ATC exchanges (I'm a member of 2 online cross stitch ATC exchange groups)
4. Stitch FOR MYSELF

Yup, that's right - I'm not stitching anything for anyone else next year - it's all going to be about ME. I plan on doing a few samplers and perhaps some cushions or something, but it's all going to be FOR ME. :)

I have been working exclusively(sp) on 2 projects and plan on keeping it that way. I have way to many charts that I can't possibly ever finish in my lifetime so I think it best if I stick to what I have started and see where that leads me. That being said these projects are for me and me alone.

Resolutions:

1. Learn how to do hardanger.
2. Start my HAED.
3. Stitch the Austrian Heart from Just Cross Stitch (Jan/Feb 2010).
4. Finish the three projects I currently have on the go.

The problem is that I know there will be other projects that crop up that need to be done ASAP.

I'm really excited about my future projects for the year ahead, these are my resolutions-

1. Have my 2 projects running alongside each other, they have a week each.
2. get better with my newly aquired sewing machine, I just made my first christmas stocking and it's not good-lol-but I'm still proud, fingers crossed that when I make the second one next week it turns out better.
3. Take more pictures of my children and projects, pick a day of the week to upload them and do stitch a longs as they always make me feel great.
4. Get involved with an exchange.

My stitching resolutions for 2011:

1. Finish my Nautilius Shells WIP, which is approaching UFO status because I haven't touched it in months. I just need to finish the backstitching.
2. Start my William Morris Rabbit pattern. I've already gridded the fabric for it and have all the threads.
3. Stitch a Christmas stocking for my husband for next year.
4. Maybe start 1 or 2 other small projects which I already have kitted up.

Sadly the same as 2010!

1. Finish TW's Fantasy Sampler.

Had I not had the wrist op and done the mini project for a friend I might have made it.

New for 2011:

2. Stitch small things and have the courage to try new techniques.

I have only 2 resolutions this year.

My husband will be 50 in July and I want to have the project that I started finished and framed for that event.

I want to finish the last angel and buy the material for the Angel quilt that I am making for my daughter. I want to get her quilt done this year.

I have only two resolutions:

- to finish Titania some point of the year
- to finish my first HAED some point of the year (I haven't decided yet which one it would be)

Everything else would be an extra!

In order...

- Finish the dinosaurs for Sam (I'm hoping to be finished with these guys around April, and hoping to visit them in May!)
- Finish my Christmas afghan (when I started it I didn't expect to have it finished this year, so I'm not disappointed that it's nearly Christmas and not even half-way done...at least, not very!)
- A name plate for Gray's cousin's son, who was born this year. I've got it all planned out.
- Make a ring pillow for my brother and sister-in-law - they've not yet set a date yet, and I don't want to be rushing, so I figure I'll get it done in plenty of time :) They chose the chart and I've got all the threads and such.
- A birth sampler for my friends Lucy and Kirk for their munchkin, due in July. He's hoping for a girl but it's far too early to tell yet.
- Other than that, it's all about me :D I usually stitch a valentines card, birthday card and anniversary card for Gray, and if anyone else among my friends falls pregnant I'll do birth samplers for them, but everything else will be just for me. As much as I love giving gifts, I'd rather have a lot more stitching on my own walls!
