What a stunning group of projects, the colours are stunning and I was particularly struck by how beautifully regular your stitching looks, it's wonderful!

I've worked on Congress Cloth in hand, but I can see why the pull on these might distort the canvas -- shame, I'd like to try something like this but I'm not really a stretcher frame person :-(. But thanks for showing us these and giving us plenty more ideas (as well as something to enjoy looking at and admire!)

I dare to say me too. I like blue, but I also like the desert one.

(Although here in the UK, our Chancellor of the Exchequer is right now letting us know how much money we are NOT going to have over the next 4 years, so I might just have to dream about these designs.)

If you particularly like quilting designs on canvas, you might keep an eye out for a wonderful book, published in 1974 by Workman Publishing company, called Needlepoint from America's Great Quilt Designs, compiled by Mary Kay Davis and Helen Giammattei. It's fabulous, if you can find it.
Small world, isn't it? I know what you mean about money getting tighter every day. I've finally decided to sell off my spray booth, references & other major tools, as well as about 95% of the kits from another hobby. Thanks for the book reference. I'll keep my eye out for it.

I will look and see if my LNS has monocanvas that u are talking about. If they do, I might try my hand on this project as I love working with needles and threads. I did latch hook rug for a couple years and decided to move on to cross-stitching since there are more options in this kind of hobby.

Your 3 designs are gorgeous!

Oh, yeah. :D The Silver Needle is great. I really like The Stitchworks and there is also Stitches. With those three shops in Tulsa, it's a stitcher's delight.

Give me a shout if you get up this way. You may need help carrying all the new stash.[/quote]

I'll take you up on that if I ever have money to spare again! :x:

There must be about a zillion stitchers in the Tulsa area to support three LNSs. Lucky Tulsa.

(not so) Hot off the stretcher bars (finally framed)

Post by mig-3 »

I finally did the framing on these two today. Both mats were cut a bit too large. I had to add an additional band of the final color around the perimeter fill the gaps. I didn't get the mats aligned perfectly, but it will have do.

You would never be able to tell that some of it was added as an "emergency measure", they just look like perfect designs -- I know we always look at our own work with a very critical eye, expecting perfection and not finding it even if every other person who sees it stands in awe, but these are truly projects to b proud of!

Thanks, Y'all. I'm glad it doesn't show too much. They're going out in the mail this morning. The Patriot Stars are for Mom and Dad (Blue Star parents). Evening Star for a neighbor back home. She fell in love with it when she saw me stitching it when I was home on vacation.
