Bottom of the Garden (update 24/08/10, pg 2)

Post by Ingahaim »

This is my biggest wip at the moment. I work on other projects aswell, but here I want to show you my Haed. It's Bottom of the Garden from Amy Brown. I adore it.

I started another Haed, the Queen of Hearts from Anderson, as my second piece ever, but I threw it away. I think the person that sold me the fabric knew I was a beginner and has sold me her junkfabric. Seeing the fabric isn't 25 count, nor 18 count and it was said to be evenweave but there are threads in it that are much much bigger then the rest. And also, working with 2 threads on it is horrible, makes it too thick, while with only one thread you see white through it. But enough about the Queen of Hearts, let's look at the other one.

This is what it will look like:

And this is my progress, I'm not very far yet.

    Lovely work so far.

Is it possible the other fabric was linen? Linen naturally has variations in thread widths and occasional "blobs" usually called slubs.

I love that one aswell. What ct fabric are you using and are you using 1 or 2 threads?

No, I don't think so. Cause I have linen here, and compared it with the fabric I had, and the varations in threads was a lot less then in linen. and one thread was very loose, and another one was very thight.

It wasn't a "brand" I know either, so no zweigart or dmc.

This is somewhere page 3 or so. Here the white still looks less, but it's much more in real.

I don't have a lot off extra pictures anymore. I had a few on the blog, but those were the best I always picked out.

I'm using 18 count aida, with 2 threads. It's looks lovely i think. Not too thick and not too lose so I can see white.

What could be a problem? The first one (Bottom) or the second one (Queen)?

"Queen" with the unevenly tensioned fabric? Damn. I'm confused. :)
