Peel Off Stickers, advice please

Post by Slinky »

I recently made a Christening card for my niece and used a peel off sticker with the word Christening.

I had never used peel-offs before and I found handling and placing the word really fiddly. Are there some tips you can give me for using peel offs? There are some really great ones out there but my attempt at using them looked very amateur indeed.

Any advise greatly appreciated.

One word - tweezers. I have a pair of tweezers in my craft box for such projects as that. :)

I use either tweezers or a "pokey tool" - long metal pointed tool.
The key thing is to let the peel-off relax once you have taken it off the backing, only for a couple of seconds but then it will lay down easily.
The bigger they are the harder they are to work with.

Thanks Guys, clearly I need to get my tweezers out!

And I appreciate the comment that the larger they are the harder they are to handle. "Christening" in script writing was probably a bit of a baptism of fire! (Have posted a pic of the card in question in the Mini Projects thread. The peel-off was on the inside)

Tweasers.

Peel each sticker off with tweasers at one end of the sticker and hover over where you want it until you have the excact placement. Then slowly lower it and smooth it into place with your finger.

Angel loves her tweasers.

Definitely tweezers and if you can find them the ones for crafting (I think jewerly making section usually) with points instead of flat edges have worked better for me but you'll probably need to try a few and find the best ones for your working method.

The other thing that I sometimes do is make tiny, tiny pencil marks for putting the first and last letter and try to align that way.

But I'm not a good straight line person so it usually is just plunking it down and eyeing it as best I can.
