i really despise having my photo taken so there are very few of me as an adult. here is one with my fiance, mark. wedding in november 2009!

i have a lot of fun going through this thread from the beginning. i had mental images of many of the regular posters and some were quite different than my preconceived notions! all look so happy and i love being part of such an uplifting and encouraging group of women, and the occasional man!

Having read a number of the posts and looked at some of the pics I think I will have to dig one out of me. I have been taking pics since I was about 16 and spent most of my time behind the camera so those of me are few and far between.

A bit about me though, I am now 76 years young and was married to Sylvia for just over 53 years and knew her for over 54 years (we were engaged in 3 months and married 11 months after that). We never spent any time apart except for things like being in hospital, and did everything together. I gave her a surprise Silver Wedding present, a trip to Paris with dinner in the Eiffel tower (arranged by a French business colleague), where we were feted on the top table with Miss France of the day!

Our Golden Wedding was arranged by our Sons & Daughter-in-Law in a hall next to one of the Son's houses as they didn't want me taking her away for that celebration.

After Sylvia was persuaded to take up cross-stitch as a hobby by a good friend of ours (who also sadly died last October), by chance I saw a tapestry of a Spitfire in one of the local shops and did that (not tremendously well). After that I did several more tapestries, and finally a cross-stitch of a family coat of arms. I am now completely hooked on that as well.

I still miss her a lot sitting next to me with both of us stitching, but in continuing with her projects it brings us closer together.

Holy cow! I went through the entire 46 pages of this topic...and my two kids let me lol. They were playing cars at my feet and before I knew an hour and a half passed... I'm flabbergasted

For my pic I was going to not cheat and put up the most recent pic I have in on this computer.. that ended up being a VERY unflattering pic of me that my son took lol. So I amended it to be the latest that an adult took haha.. that was a smidge better at least:
Image
Tinkerbell is mine. It was her birthday and already at one she's a girly girl and loves dresses....especially dresses with wings lol
I need get a decent photo to show... how disapointing I don't have one really!

And because my two babies were so well and always seem to enable my internet addiction:
Image
My baby girl. She just turned a year on July 28th. I have high hopes of her being a stitcher. When she was sick a few weeks she really enjoyed pulling the needle up from the fabric for me, giggling and handing it to me to do again.. Probably not the best idea with a year old but she took it seriously. She keeps pointing to my stitch bag and does her "give me" hand sign...
And is it just me, or does it look like she's wearing makeup in this pic?? :?
And my eldest:
Image
He's like most boys I'm sure and doesn't have much interest in my cross-stitch aside from the occasional oo and aah glance. He asked last week to cross-stitch... his work was a jumbled ball by the end of it.. but he was proud of it lol.

This is me:

And this is me earlier this year at a World Record Attempt in Sydney for the most number of knitters in one place at a time:

Image

I'm the one in about the middle with a purple hat on.

Oh, and we got the world record. We had 212 people knitting for 20 minutes all at the same time. It was great fun, freezing cold but we all got some free wool and needles out of it, as well as the sense of acomplishment!

Just thought you might like to see me! I've aged a year since this was taken but I don't think I've changed much, other than maybe a few more wrinkles and grey hairs!

Penny - likes to be known as "Princess Penny" ..... because she's a right wee spoilt madam!!

...... and last , but most certainly not least ....

Eloise - know as Ellie ...... and "Imp of Satan"!! We found her in a ditch, last March with a broken tail and both back legs smashed. She had to wear her boot outside as she can't walk properly on the sole of her foot.

What a wonderful idea! :) Everyone looks so different from what I imagined, but that's the way it works, right?

Here's one of my most recent pictures. It's from my wedding in October, with my wonderful husband, Nathan:

And you can see our adorable pug in my avatar!
