Jig Saw Puzzles.

Post by Squirrel »

Well the family got off on their trip home to NZ at the weekend and I finally had the big table all to myself for 10 days. Time to get out an old 500 piece circular puzzle which is a doozey to do. Finally got it all together and then spent an hour trying to transfer it to photobucket.
Hopefully here it is - in all its glory.

Tomorrow I will crumble it up and its back in the box until next time. I will then get out a new puzzle which is going to take up 2/3rds of the table - hence the need for a few days to myself. Gotta love it.

What has amazed me is that I have not missed my stitching one little bit - very strange.

Very pretty jigsaw. Nice for you to have the table to yourself to do it on. Haven't done one for years.

That's a beauty. It's very satisfying to put in that last piece too.

I used to do a lot of jigsaws, and a lot of them were circular. I had one of those large folding things that you did them in, and then closed it to put it safe from cats etc.

We all used to hide a piece so we could be the one to put the last bit in place too

Good break from stitching. Tuppy stayed away from the table?

I haven't done a jigsaw puzzle in years. I think the last one I did was M. C. Escher's Relativity. My sister and I did that during a monster blizzard in Chicago one year. Never did another one after that!

I got a bit reckless yesterday when the Christmas issue of Innovations arrived in my letter box and went directly to the jig saw puzzles. Oh what beauties, they have to offer. Sorted out 3 of them and then had a brainwave - The Fox Collection last issue had one of the puzzles in it I was sure nad yes it was there and $5 cheaper too and a lower set postage rate. Mmmmmmm tempting. Very much so.

Watch the Acquisitions thread mid week and see what I have bought. Told DS #4 he has bought me a Christmas present and I will wrap one of them for him to give me. Love this time of year - I can get into mischief.

I have just started back into doing jig-saws and there are lots of people in this area who do them. I confine myself to 500 piece ones as space is limited. When I have finished one I usually take it to one of the charity shops and get another, there are a lot of them which circulate around. I find that Gibsons Jig-saws are good to buy as you can sometimes as many as 4 in one box for a very reasonable price.

I have so many puzzles to do - but I have to cover them (or finally use the puzzle keeper board thingy I bought) - in other words, I have to cat-proof them. My problem is I have so much I want to stitch, and so much I want to crochet, and so many puzzles - what to do!!??!!

Here is the Angel/Fairy one which took me 3 days to do. A real challenge as the next piece to go in often didn't look as though it would match but it did. I ended up looking for how each one was shaped more than colours to get a lot of it in.

Image

I also have my new puzzles so go over and look in 2016 Deliveries and New Stash Aacquisitions for these.

There are 3 of them, 1 will be a Christmas present from my youngest son plus I have bought a folding thingy to do the puzzles in which also has 2 'boards' for the pieces and the whole lot can be folded away and stowed when necessary. Not tried it out yet but watch this space.
