Re: Coloring for Grownups -UPDATE Dec 22

Post by rcperryls »

I am thinking about pulling out my birdbook!! There are so many sparrows or even warblers that it could be. It might be a more "generic" bird so that you can color it however you want to. The rest of the drawing is wonderful. I was at the book store Monday and there was a huge table with "Adult Coloring Books" and colored pencil sets of all sorts available. I hope you'll keep updating us on these pretty pictures!

That's not a marking. It's the bulge of his 'cheek" or his jaw or whatever. If you look at the picture of the Eastern Bluebord, you can see the contour from the middle of his eye back and then it curves down and around just like the 'marking' on the illustrated bird.

Any of the finches have short, thick beaks, so I dont think it's a goldfinch.

Allyn, you're right! I see it now. Of course, I just tonight finished this and made the birds into my own bluebird-like creation.

Finished, faux birds and all. :D

Looks really nice. Makes me want to do it with a needle instead though - possibly as real embroidery (not this simple cross stitch stuff!) so it'll be a liability for my great-grand brats.

Regards

Richard.

Thanks everyone! I'm using pastel pencils (not colored pencils, by the way), and it's very difficult to get bright colors and high contrast with them. It's difficult for me anyway.

Richard, I know just how you feel about wanting to stitch it, lol.

I highly recommend this hobby. It's inexpensive and fun. I find it satisfying in the same way stitching is. It's got all the things I love about stitching in that I can indulge my creative urges in a pretty defined and controlled environment. That's how I like to create.

Gorgeous! My daughter Katie (11) and I love to do the "adult" coloring books - mainly mandalas, but she got some with different designs for Christmas. I'm with Richard, I'd love to stitch some of them! Katie's already talking about doing her own design to color then convert to a cross stitch pattern.

Superb, that is very nicely coloured, I love the birds. It is good sometimes to deviate from the norm re making your own birds a one off type so your colouring is unique. Well done, thanks for sharing. I like the pastel colours. My hands aren't good enough for using pencils nowawdays, would have to paint them. Maybe will get round to painting when I finish my stash altho when that will be I've no idea @rotfl:
