Secret Shawl . Photo of it at the Wedding 02/05/19

Post by poppy »

Our son is getting married in April. As it will be probably on the cold side ( we are in the UK), I am knitting a shawl "in secret" to give to my future Daughter in law.
It is made of wool/silk lace weight yarn and so far I have 235 stitches on the knitting needle. It is very lacey and I added some beads. Once finished, it will have to be stretched to show off the lace.
The first photo shows the beads.
Thanks for looking :)

I am totally amazed every time I see this fabulous shawl which is such a work of art. Your DIL is going to be absolutely thrilled with it and will cherish it I am sure. How many stitches will you have on the needles in the last row I wonder? I can imagine in takes ages to knit 1 row. :)

Oh my goodness, what a beautiful idea and what a beautiful shawl, the pattern is absolutely beautiful and the yearn sounds so light and soft.

Well done Héléne, I am amazed at how many stitches you will have on the needles too, and to knit beads in as well :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

Will you use blocking pins to block it out to stretch the lace effect?

Thank you for all your kind comments :) You are very encouraging.

323 stitches were cast off on the 31st of December and the shaw is now being stretch and dried on some children soft blocks.
I will give it to my future daughter- in -law, on her birthday this months. I hope she will like it.
I am glad to be back into Cross stitching again now. :D

You are so encouraging, thank you! :D

I am glad that it is finished. It is the most anti-social activity : NO ONE was allowed to talk to me while I was knitting it, as the lace required my full attention or I would be in real trouble if I had to frog!

If Annalie likes it, it will just to cover her shoulders between photos, as it will be probably quite chilli in April.

Here is the finished shoulder shawl :

Héléne this is a beautiful thought and a beautiful shawl and I take my hat off to you, so many stitches and so perfectly knitted.

Very Well Done Indeed.

If I ask nicely can I be second after Wendy for any future shawls?
