fccs’s counted canvas 2020

Post by fccs »

I decided to get out one of my counted canvas designs. I bought this a couple years ago (and it’s not the oldest I have). This is the design and my start Monday:

Image

And this is where I stopped earlier today. You can see where stitches were removed. The blue fiber I bought looked nothing like the blue in the chart picture. It’s almost as dark as the charcoal. I confirmed with Hands on Design that the color was correct so there must have been a HUGE change in dyelots. Anyway, I’ve ordered two different shades of blue and fingers crossed one of them works.

The design looks like it should be a quilt when it grows up. :D Pity about the blue. Might it be that the photo reproduction just isn't very good?

What size canvas are you using?

Shame about the blue - yes, dyelots can really be dramatically different! But it's looking great so far and it's such an attractive design!

The design is based on a quilt. Good eye. :-)

I emailed Hands on Design and Cathy confirmed the color is a pale blue. I think she was as puzzled as I was. Anyway, I'll keep going as much as I can pending the arrival (fingers crossed) of an appropriate blue. I ordered from 123stitch and I know they are swamped. The canvas is 18 count mono. Doing this has reminded me how much I enjoy counted canvas.

The new shade of blue (the light blue) arrived from 123 and I’m so happy with it. I also frogged the charcoal in the earlier photo and changed it to a dark blue. (I replaced the charcoal with the dark blue that I replaced with the light blue.) Here’s my progress as of Saturday. I am having so much fun with this!

It’s a finish. I loved every stitch of this one, but my wrists need a bit of a rest before I start my next counted canvas. Poking a canvas with a needle takes more effort than poking fabric. :-)
