Clay Pot Art

Post by Rose »

For anyone that wants to have a fun and easy gift as a Christmas present(I know I said the nasty C word) Sorry but I thought you might want to try this.

First you will need 4 clay pots. 2 medium and 2 small pots. Glue them together as I have pictured. I use a Quick Hold Craft Glue.
Image

Once the glue has dried paint the bottom 3 pots white. As shown in the picture below. I use Indoor/Outdoor Acrylic Enamel paint.
Image

Once the white has been finished and the paint dries move on to the unpainted portion of the clay pots. Paint them with the black, as I have shown in the following picture.
Image

This will finish the outer colors. I then spray them with a clear coat of finishing spray. This should dry for at least one day.
The following day you can then finish. Paint on a face or if you can find then you can use decals. I use decals.

Next glue on 3, 1/2 inch pompoms down the front of the snowman.
Image

Finally finish the snowman as you would like to decorate as you would like them. I use pipe cleaners for the arms and sparkly one around the hat brim to decorate.

Clay pots turned into snowmen -- this must be Rose :-). What a lovely idea, and they'd make great Christmas decorations as well as presents!

Rose, you are wonderful with your idea's. I guess you could extend it to make other figures as well. Would be able to make some really cute little ornaments to go into the garden.

Yes you can make other characters. I have done an Angel
Image

And also a Nutcracker.
Image

I have done miniture ones also to give as Christmas presents but that was before I took picture of all my gifts. The possibilities are pretty much endless. I hadn't thouoght to put these two up before as I did not have step by step pictures of them but you can pretty much get the drift.

Mabel actually these picture are from last November when I was making up my gift baskets for friends. But I do have some of my own that sit out.
