Wrendale Designs 'Curious Hen' *FINISHED*

Post by Nicola Main »

I started this this afternoon as I've been wanting to do it for so long! First photo is what it will look like when finished and second photo, err well, this WILL become a hen trust me! I've decided to call her Mavis  :tizzy:

Hello, Mavis! I can't wait to see you grow. I just love Wrendale Designs - just need time to start (and finish) the ones I have (so I can get more?).

My mum had a 'Becky' Bantam with just that colouring. She was a brilliant mum and utterly infuriating chicken. Being a Bantam, and a good flyer, we often awoke in the morning to that view looking in from the upstairs window cill at the farm. This, despite the chickens all being locked up at night..
We never worked out how she, and only she, escaped.

Regards,

Richard.

Awww Becky sounds like a right character! We have four pet hens called Mildred (the matriarch), Maud (the daft one), Ethel (the trouble maker) and Evie (the quiet one) xxx

That is going to be so much fun to stitch Nicola. Love the stories about your hens Richard and Nicola.

We had hens for a while many years ago, Rhode Island Reds plus a rooster. Every night before I went in to collect the eggs, I 'armed myself' with a rolled up newspaper to bop rooster on the head if he came into the nest area. He was prone to attacking with his feet out to take hunks out of me . He never came near my husband though.

Looking forward to seeing more of "Mavis"

I can't wait to see more progress on Mavis. That's going to be great when you're done. I also loved the picture of your hens and the close-up Debby got at the fair.

Not sure I'd want to meet her alone on a dark night!! (There are some birds that show their, eh, Jurassic forebears rather more than others...)

But your Curious Hen will be brilliant. :king:

Awww thanks everyone I hope to get some more of her done today at some point! When you see the hens running in a group after food they do indeed remind me of a pack of Velociraptors! I am a firm believer in that birds are the descendants of dinosaurs
