Vervico Baby Samplers: Framed 10/21/2020

Post by rcperryls »

I have just begun working on this project (the Vervaco kit that I posted about earlier). I love the design:
Image
and have made a little beginning:
Image.
I've made a few changes from the kit in that I am stitching it 1 over 1 on 28 count evenweave (lugana I think) rather than on the 14ct aida. I am not real thrilled so far on the quality of the thread provided. It says it is DMC presorted cotton floss but it seems thinner than the usual DMC. It works fine unless I have to pull out a stitch or two and then pulls apart easily. I'm taking care to make sure I don't need to do that very often. Other than that I am enjoying it and am so happy happy happy to have my stitching bug back. He's been AWOL for way too long.

Thanks for looking.

YAY! :whoop: You have made a great start on this lovely design Carole.

:applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

When I stitched this, I didn't think the thread was DMC and my kit just said cotton fabric and threads.

Just pm me your address if you want or need the threads I have leftover and I'll pop them in the post :D

:whoop: for the return of your stitchy bug :whoop:

Great start! As you are doing it one over one on a finer fabric you're likely to have plenty of thread, so whenever you need to "reverse stitch" (as my RSN tutor prefers to call unpicking) just discard the thread and start with a new one - this is such a special project you don't want to run any risk of threads looking thin!

Even with less time this past week, I did get a little bit more done. I was told I needed it to be finished by sometime in April so I have to get seriously moving on it. Dad's baby finger is done and now working on Mom's with I think some shadowing of baby's. Hoping weekly updates will keep me going!

Wow you have been busy and you've made great progress :whoop: Your stitching is so beautifully neat and even.

I think you'll have plenty of time to get it finished Carole as it's not needed til April.

It's such a lovely design

This is such a precious design and you really are making good progress with it Carole. I am sure it is going to be a real treasure by the parents-to-be and eventually by the little one his/her self. :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

Great start, Carole! It is a lovely project, so different from other birth samplers. 1 over 1 on 28 count is very fine work and it will look stunning.

Thank you all for your lovely comments. It is really motivating and appreciated. I've done a fair amount this week, which has been an unusually busy week for some reason I don't know :? , but I managed to get a few more "fingers done" and all three hands are now clearly visible.

1 over 1 was a good decision, the fingers look so real! You stitched a lot although you had a busy week. Rosie must have helped :D
Brilliant progress, Carole.

Thank you all for your lovely and encouraging comments. I guess I forgot to post last week, which explains why there is more progress than usual. It is going pretty quickly, I think. I was thinking of stitching some of the other designs that are similar but will have to look elsewhere because I really don't like the thread quality in this kit. I stitch one over one a lot (most of my HAEDs) and I rarely have the kind of fraying problems that I am having with this one. Good thing I love this design as much as I do.
