fccs’s Grand Teton National Park - Oct 2020

Post by fccs »

My kids (son and d-i-l) went to Jackson, Wyoming, recently and got me this kit. The kit had the floss sorted into three bundles, each of which was inside a Floss Away bag, and it included plastic bobbins (enough for each color). Very impressive. It also included these instructions for recommended strands of floss: “Cross stitch using 4 strands of floss to achieve the solid-stitched tapestry look of the cover sample. You may use only 2 strands if you prefer a more traditional cross-stitched look. Or use 3 strands if you like! With counted cross-stitch, the choice is always yours.” Best instructions EVER.

They gave it to me Saturday and I got a few stitches done Sunday. I plan on working on it tonight during game one of the World Series.

Great instructions (especially if they've given you enough thread to do the 4-strand option)! Enjoy this stitching adventure. And how many strands will you use? :wip:

I agree! Best instructions I've ever seen. And which option did you choose?

Serinde, I think there’s more than enough floss for the four-strand option.

Serinde and Carole, I am using two. I know a lot of people like three (or more) on 14 count, but I’ve always used two and I like the way it looks. I didn’t work on it today but hopefully I’ll have a small update tomorrow(‘ish).

The wonderful thing is being able to please oneself. And your stitching is always lovely.

I haven’t made a lot of progress on this one, but it’s better than nothing. We got a lot of snow earlier this week and I had planned on snow days full of stitching. Instead I ended up cleaning out and organizing my craft closet and guest room.

Yeah, well, these things need to be done, too, so that the tiny 'clean me' voices are silences, and you can stitch in peace! Great start.

Progress is still progress - those stitches weren't there before and now they are. And what lovely stitches they are.

Sometimes I can only manage around 20 - 30 stitches, other times I can have a great session, we all get there in the end.

Yay! for a clean craft room ( I'm not jealous of a craft room, no, I'm not, honestly  )

I don’t have a craft room, just a craft closet in my guest room. But since I live alone (with Jackson, my cat), I guess every room is a craft room, right?

Change "Jackson" to "Rosey" and I could have said that. I guess I'd say mine is a craft house and just leave it at that.

Love your progress on this project! Any progress is good and organizing craft storage is something that I also do periodically. I admire your moving on to your guest room, though. Not sure I would have gone that far.I tend to be very much a "procrosstinator" (autocorrect made me type that word 3 times, even with the quotation marks). My sister sent me a t shirt which says so and defines procrosstination as "cross stitching when I could be doing housework".

Well, I had no choice as far as the guest room. When I organize my craft closet, everything gets dumped on the guest bed and floor, which necessitates a clean up there.

As you know any increase on our stitching is that much less to do. Good on you for stopping for the organising and then the clearing up. :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:
