:whoop: Panic over and thanks for the encouragement ladies. It wasn't the stitching out of kilter - it was the grid line being 1 row too low. Phew quite a relief. Now I can continue sitting out in the sunshine - a must for DMC 'blue' 939 which is almost black and its beside 3750 which is almost as black.

Maybe a picture over the weekend if I get a good 'run' at some quiet mornings to stitch. :)

Don't give us shocks like that Sally, it's not good for us - we'll all end up at St Cross Stitcher's if you're not careful :-) (or in the Stash & Grab calming our nerves of course...)

Brilliant! :D I must say that I looked again at your recent update and could not see anything "out of kilter".
May I ask, please, what is your method for gridding? I am new to it but can see the advantage on doing it ( although not on this occasion! LOL!)

Enjoy your stitching in the sunshine, here is a cup of real English Breakfast tea or Earl Grey if you prefer :tea:

:whoop: for finding it was a gridline error. I double and triple check when I draw mine since I worry about making that mistake. I'm so glad that you found it and can get back to stitching in the sunshine!

Poppy, re gridding. If it is on aida I just use a soluble pencil but when it is evenweave or linen I make use of old sewing machine thread in an easy to see colour.
I always fold the fabric to find the middle and count out 10 holes for aida and 20 threads for evenweave/linen. Doing it from the middle confirms that I have enough 'left over' fabric for framing.

Hope this makes sense.

Thank you for your answer. I did open a thread about gridding and got some useful answers too but I find that I can count and grid without any problem on Aida but I keep going wrong with my count on evenweave.
"Persevere" is my DH's old school motto, so I shall!

Looking forward to seeing your next update :)

Here is the latest update with a lot of filling in done. I am now back on DMC 939 - the almost black one which has a lot more stitching to go right down to the very bottom of the "train" of her gown.

It has been a good days stitching, it stayed cool and very quiet so I have accomplished 90% of the darkest bits.

Thanks for looking.

Thank you for your kind comments. The threads in the mauves/ purples are all Needlepaints threads just very slightly thicker than DMC or Anchor. It has 1 drawback though - frogging needs to be done very carefully as it shreds very easily. Thankfully I bought 2 of each of the 5 shades so have enough for the work yet to be done. :)

Here it is right down to the last row. I finally got to do a few stitches down there.

URL=http://s1095.photobucket.com/user/Squir ... t.jpg.html]Image[/URL]

Today I have had to go up to the top of the loop and start to fill that in, I got lost amongst the very dark colours and was making mistakes so will bring some stitching down to where I know I am and go from there.

Thanks for looking.

PS the bottom loop has 4 different blues and 1 blend of 930/931.
