Christmas present - Waders

Post by Inkysloth »

I spotted the Derwentwater Waders pattern a couple of months ago and thought it'd be perfect for my mum for Christmas, but started stitching it a bit later than I meant to. So tomorrow will be a full-steam stitching day!

So far I've completed two of the three birds, and I've been doing the sand / sea background in the evenings when I'm too tired to count stitches properly >_<

(I know the stitches are messy... I'm counting on my mum's eyesight not picking that up *ahem*)

It comes with 14ct Aida, but I wanted to use linen for this one as I prefer the way it looks as a background fabric.

That is a beauty and you are getting through it with a few days to spare yet before the big day. :)

The picture looks good, but I agree with you that some of the stitching looks as if it has been done in somewhat of a hurry.
Hope you manage to finish it.

Good luck getting this finished! I'm sure you Mum will love it...even if you think it's a bit 'messy' :D

BTW When I saw the heading Waders my immediate thought was a pair of fishing waders ie long Wellington boots!!  @rotfl:

Lovely birds! Known as clockwork toys in my family as that's what they look like scurrying around the water's edge!

Hope you manage to get it finished in time.

:applesauce: :applesauce: Your mother is going to love this. I agree the linen is a perfect background. And smart to do the background when you're tired. I leave large blocks of colors for times when I'm tired( or know my attention will be more on the tv than my stitching  ).
