The result is really very nice. Definitely worth the effort.
I think you are 100% correct about the yellow rose colours, got to be different shades on the yellow. If nothing else, yellow roses fade so fast that if one has been out a day or two more than another, it'll be a different colour.

Congratulations,

Richard.

Thank you all once again for really lovely messages. Apart from changing the roses & not doing a few other French knots in places I have loved every part of this project.

I think the red bricks give a sense of warmth & nice welcome feeling. Have always felt that if anyone walked into any of them they would feel at ease & at home. We'll have an opening do for Cross Stitchers' Retreat & all are welcome. :D

Today washed this & it is drying between 2 thick towels. Since starting last November, a few times when DJ & I have been out, we ventured into some charity shops & I got 2 frames. As sizes on chart said approximately 14x10 got one frame 14 x 11 inches & other 14x10. It has turned out the latter so once dry an get it in that frame.

Good to get on the laptop again but still have lot to learn, am getting there though. It is not as bad as it was first time I tried & this laptop is quicker. Prev one was 2 years old so a lot of improvements on machines & web sites since then. Thanks for tips - I have, 2 men in a local repair shop who are very good so if needs be can get them to tweak it, but hope I can do most myself. Have a book t refer to as well as the Cortona on this machine.

Am gridding Aida for otters now. Forgot , DH said it seems strange in the evenings seeing me without the big frame. :)

Will be back when cottages are framed

Never realised that about yellow roses Richard.

Ta da! :D

Thanks ladies.

Laptop I've been able to switch from Edge to Internet Explorer but hope to get used to edge later on. Only do ordinary things on it emails lets, read news etc. The most difficult thing I do on here is trying to get Photobucket to upload pictures!! @rotfl:

Frame is cream with small gold bits making it look slightly distressed so makes it look older than it is. Other frame I got was wider & matt silver. Had intended painting it matt gold if necessary but this narrower one is better.

Thank you for looking.

Thank you Nicola. Largest before was 9x7 & although I did get a bit bogged down 2 or 3 times but it passed after a few days. I can honestly say I have enjoyed stitching this :) Won't be getting many projects larger than this though. Am going to buy 2 charts from Celtic Rose Needlecrafts & they are slightly larger but won't be buying many larger ones. Have a lot in my stash already  :D

That frame is simple and perfect. The colour of it is just right. When you have such a detailed picture, I think the simpler the frame the better. :applesauce: :applesauce:

Frame looks nice. I'd have probably gone for a 15% width matte all round, but that's a matter of taste. Looks really good though.

Richard

:applesauce: :applesauce: I love it! I do like how the frame adds that slight bit of character (not quite sure that is the right word) and age that really makes this special!

Thank you all so much. The red & brown bricks are a bit deeper, mellower, when seen in reality & I knew this frame would give the picture the small lift it needed. What did surprise me though is how much more vibrant the roses have become, especially the yellow ones.

Those of you who are long time cross stitchers will have known how much difference the frame makes but I did not realise the full extent. Most of my previous works have been brighter pictures & just needed frames to tone in.
