Only a bit to show from 3 nights stitching but thought I'd put it on here. Centre of chart is at front door of middle cottage. 54 colours, 10 shades of green & 10 browns although some are reddish brown. Several different colours of beads to add at the end, whenever I get there that is

Done quite a lot since last time. Part of front door & window frames are meant to be left blank but other blank parts are for beads, 74 red on the foliage on left hand of door, then yellow beads above door & down right side of it. Cottage which will be on the right will have approx. another 100 red & yellow ones, cottage furthest left will have approx. 60 yellow & red. It said on chart that beads are added for embellishment but I think with so many it may drown it! Am going to decide at the end whether to add beads or just cross stitch the colours instead. When I see the whole picture I can judge for myself if I think it will be too much embellishment or not. Would be glad of your opinions though, please.

Must get a slightly light picture next time I update.

:applesauce: :applesauce: Lovely update! You are making good progress! I think waiting to add the beads untill you have finished the cross stitching makes a lot of sense. If you don't want to bead, but want some bling you could add some Kreinik or other metallic thread or blending floss to your thread. Or nothing as it is such a pretty design as is.

That is certainly a lot of beads Izzi. Had you thought of going French knots instead of beads? That often works just as well but without the bling. Or try Carole's idea of using metallic thread or blending filament.

It is a lovely update that is for sure and you are making good progress.

Thank you all for your comments & for your suggestions Carole & Sally. It is good to have 2 more solutions to think over at the end.

Would love to see the Cotswold cottages Wendy. They are honeyed/pale yellow stones if I remember right. I have Willow Tree Cottages, another lot in a row but very pale stone & also a sampler of Butterfly Cottage to make up the set. I seem to be collecting things in 3s as I have 3 single cottage kits too. And when I looked through my stash prior to starting this realised I have other topics in sets of 3 as well!

Thank you. Did more last night but had a n unwanted visitor... :ribbit: decided to stop by. The evening before as I had small amount of thread in my needle I went down a few rows to put 7 stitches in but found out I had gone down one row too many! They were whole rows to undo only but a section about 2.5 cms square. I am using 14 hpi so not hard to unpick, glad it was not on 18 hpi! When I start today I can redo them so they tally up with the other parts of the rows which are still to be done.

I seem to always get it wrong if I do go cross country, even if I count & recount I still somehow manage to put wrong stitches somewhere or other, that is why I mostly do small areas at a time even if it is one stich of a colour, that way I seem to be OK. But occasionally I think I will be alright to go to different area, but find out later I was wrong to take a chance. Still everyone has things happen & I was lucky I spotted it before I had done a lot of that particular area. This DMC chart does not have the grid lines matching the centre stitch of the chart. There are 8 pages & the last 2 right hand ones are only part chart, the other part of those pages is the thread & symbols details.

I do find I easier marking the next lot of stitches to be done & then cross them out when completed.
