:applesauce: :applesauce: Good start. I wish I had learned about gridding when I first started stitching. Some of my more complicated designs would have gone a bit quicker. Looks like this is going to be a big project. Looking forward to seeing more updates. What is it going to be?

I think it'll be a Fairy!!! But if you want a second opinion, then I think it'll be an owl!

I didn't know about gridding, there's a patient at the nursing home where I work who gives me all these tips :)

I'm glad nobody minds about it being a mystery project!

I'm planning to do it this way:

Colour with the most stitches first, to the colour with the least amount of stitches last.
And I'm going to put an updated picture every time I finish one colour (or one skein, whichever comes first).

I've started with black because it has over 7000 black stitches.
I've almost run out of the first skein of black floss so I think the first update will come some time this evening (even though I started this thread today, the first pictures in the opening post were taken some days ago, I didn't actually use a whole skein in one day!!)

First update

Image

This is one entire skein of black floss 310 used.
I must say it seems quite small for a whole skein! I thought it would go a lot further. But then when I do some counting it goes from 0 to over 190 across and 0 to 20 down..

I will update this again when I'm done with the next black skein! Apparently there's over 7000 stitches in black I think I'll go through a few of them

Is it a design from HAED (heaven and Earth Designs) ? It looks big enough for one of theirs. You certainly had made a good start on it that is for sure. :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

Hello!
Tonight I have finished a second skein of black floss (colour 310) so here is a picture of my work in progress!
I think I have done just over half of my black stitches, still lots to go!!

Good progress and I like your way of organising what you'll stitch - ending with the "smallest" colour must be good for motivation, instead of ending with 7000 black stitches :-)

:applesauce: Great update and progress! Definitely interesting and much more fun to stitch, I'm sure than if it was a big block of black.

Thank you, I am actually enjoying doing all the black, it creates a nice pattern I think. Also when I look at the back of my work I like how all the black is making a kind of zebra-like pattern.
I will post a picture of the back when I'm done with it
(Warning: it's not perfect, there are knots and I don't follow the rules..)
