:applesauce: :applesauce: You are making great progress and your stitching is wonderfully neat and uniform. I've learned, as Richard suggested, that the colors sometimes look strange until more of the picture is completed. However, sometimes the translation from what the picture looks like, to the actual piece isn't what is expected. I think your idea of stitching more before you make any decision is a good one. And looking at this as practice makes sense, except that from I see you aren't needing much, if any, practice on those stitches!

Too late to amend my previous post with this afterthought:

Just to give you an idea of how strange some colours can be while working on them, can I point you to my 'Honeymoon Portrait'. (http://www.crossstitchforum.com/viewtop ... =6&t=26356)

The side of my wife's nostrils are scarlet, there is no other description. And there are green & tangerine colour stitches in her teeth. Pinks, purples, blues, greens & yellows all make up the skin colour along with the browns you'd expect. However, it all worked out in the end. It is possible that this one will too.

Richard

Wow, looks like I took a longer break than I thought >.<
Well I picked this up again, and adyer taking sone time away from it I'm happier with the colours. They still aren't brilliant but the whole thing's started to work together.
So here's my progress :

That is looking really rather nice.

It has 20 colours, so the colour matching is not going to be superb, but it's coming on Well.

:applesauce: :applesauce: Glad to see this again and glad to see that more of the details in the face are now showing. Does the design have much backstitch? Sometimes that will make the difference in seeing the detail. Looking forward to your next update!

Thank you everyone !
I'm still pretty surprise that they picked pink for Elsa's hair, but at least it's a subtle pink lol.
There's no back stitching on this, but I might add some when it's finished. I'll see how it all looks when it's done and decide then, if finishing the firat page is anything to go by though I should be pretty happy with the outcome.

I can see Anna's face now! :D I'm so happy to see this update. Your Frozen piece is coming along so beautifully. I have learned to trust the patterns, for the most part...even when it calls for pink in the hair. The end result rarely disappoints.

Great progress, and as you say, we'll just have to wait and see how it turns out! At least there's a very recognisable face there :-)

:applesauce: :applesauce: Great progress!! I learned a long time ago that sometimes you just have to wait to see if a project turns out like you expected. Sometimes I don't recognize a detail until I take a picture and then shock myself when it looks like it is supposed to.

Thank you everyone !
It's actually coming together now, I'm surprised at how well the terracotta blended.
Elsa nearly has a face ! And my needle minder came through so of course I had to show that too
