I love TW works and your stitching is gorgeous. It's interesting to see the detail as you stitch it because when I don't see all of the details from the whole picture of the finished work and it always amazes me how much detail exists in a stitch. It's definitely love being put into every stitch.

Holy cow! What a summer it has been. (Yes, "summer" here runs from April until November. Fall is in December. Winter is about two weeks in January and Spring starts in February.)

The baby was born three weeks ago, so I need to kick it into gear and get back to stitching. In all honesty, I think I was dragging my feet on this because I *really* wanted to be working on Color of the Wolf again.

Anyway, here's my progress:
Image
Anyone who's stitched a Teresa Wentzler design knows that pictures never do it justice. I tried to take a picture outside for better lighting but I waited too late in the day. Oh well, maybe next time.

So while I'm taking pictures, I get company.
Image
That's the Second-in-Command in the yard. He came to see what I was doing.

Then the General showed up a moment later.
Image

And word spread fast that the food human was outside, so they started coming in droves.
Image

So much for taking pictures of the stitching.

It's looking quite spectacular. Never seen a Wentzler design in the flesh, it looks horrendously complex to do, but the result is impressive.

As for the General and his troops, they look like very fine specimens.
We have a similar problem when we go outside. The 'Food human' (ie any of us) seems to attract a flock around them - with us though, it's cats, and they are happy to interpose themselves between whatever we're doing and our faces, so they can inspect the work just that little bit closer. And if any part of us happens to be horizontal, well, that's a lap invitation, isn't it? The number of times I've been on all fours weeding when a 14lb (6.5kg) cat has arrived on my back and then looked over my shoulder, long whiskers tickling my ear...

It's going to be beautiful. Hope you get lots of time to work on it.
I'm doing TW's peacock tapestry and agree that photos just don't do the work justice.

:applesauce: :applesauce: Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I LOVE TW designs and have stitched quite a few. And a picture never ever does them justice. The birth sampler is magnificent and will most definitely become an heirloom. I am glad to see it and you again!

Amazing how smart animals are when it comes to feeding time! Or the feeding person!

I've never stitched one of her designs, but I do love looking at them and yours is off to a beautiful start.

As for the troops - super cute and great pictures of them.

Not horrendously complex....just a step up from Xs. There are specialty stitches that aren't hard; and seriously, if you're aspiring to the kind of work your great-aunt did, specialty stitches are your next venture.

It's coming. Don't blink or you'll miss it. It might happen in the second week of December, so be ready.

Wow! Looks amazing! I also love your chicken gang. We're cat people in this house, just 2 these days, but still they manage to 'help' at all the wrong moments.

You know, I used to stitch for four or five hours every evening. Nowadays, I'm lucky if I can stitch for an hour every four or five evenings. It's frustratingly slow, but the mental vacation is welcome, even if I don't get as much of it.

By your very high standards, this is going very slowly; But that's understandable from the time you have available.

It looks so intricate & absolutely precise. Simply exquisite. The question is, will the baby hold off long enough?

Richard.
