karen4bells 2016 projects--another finish 12 18

Post by karen4bells »

I have started a couple of new projects and decided I should start a new topic for them.
The first one is a small one, that I'll be working on over the next couple of weekends---It's Just Nan's Rudy Reindeer
Here is what it should look like when finished
Image

and here is my progress on it so far---on 32 ct hand dyed linen

The next one is a bit larger of a project, but I really do like it a lot---it's Kathy Barrick's And Heaven and Nature Sing using vintage country mocha linen 36 ct linen
Here is what it will look like finished

and this is my progress on it so far

:applesauce: :applesauce: Wonderful projects! I love the fabric choices you make and these two are no exception. Are you planning on a reindeer theme for next Christmas? If so, you are making a beautiful start on each of these!

:applesauce: Good start on both! I really like the "Heaven and Nature" piece. :applesauce: There aren't any 'chimneys' on the model. Is that an addition?

You know, I hadn't noticed that myself until you mentioned it---I was just using my working copy of the chart and not paying attention to the photo---so it looks like they added the chimneys afterwards, or the person who stitched the model of it, left them off---no matter to me, it's staying as stitched :)
And I really am loving stitching it---getting used to the 36 count isn't quite as bad as I thought it would be, thank goodness

Thanks for all of the wonderful replies---I've about finished with the Rudy Reindeer---just have the beads on the antlers to do---and I am contemplating changing them from gold metalic ones to petite green---for 2 reasons, first off, I am not liking quite how the gold looks, and secondly, I don't have any petite gold beads on hand---sooooooo should I
1.) use the regular sized gold metalic beads
2.) go with the green petite beads
or
3.) use gold petite braid??

For the beading in the bottom part--around the neck, I've use red petite beads

Any opinions?

Here's the company's photo for reference

Re: karen4bells 2016 projects--March 9--question on the bead

Are the gold beads supposed to be part of his antlers, or decorations on his antlers? If they aren't part of the actual antlers, I think you can go with anything.

I agree. :) I was going to compliment you on the alteration because the house looks better with them.

What she said.

The gold beads look like garland draped over his antlers, so yes, they could be green or even alternate red and green beads.

Lol Alynn---I wish I had been the one that altered it, but I'm glad that it was charted with the chimneys!!

Hmmmm as for the beading, I'm still not sure what I'm going to do---even considered maybe making that whole area just look like it is antlers, and either blend in the color as charted for the antlers with a slightly darker shade, just use the charted color alone and fill it in with floss or possibly using some of it for antlers and some beads--decisions, decisions :)

You've made quick progress on these sweet reindeer projects. I think the finish will be lovely no matter what you decide to do with the beads. Thank you for sharing your pictures! :D

:applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: Beautiful update!! I also love how Heaven and Nature is looking!

I can't be any help with your beads for "Reindeer". I don't like beading so just try to avoid it when I can.
