Loop starts - take the 2 ends and put them together and thread through your needle Bring needle up in your stitching hole and go down but don't pull the thread all the way. Go to the back thread through the loop and pull but not too tightly - just your usual tension. If it pulls out it just means you have put the needle through the loop on the wrong side. To 'fix' that I usually pull the thread until just a small loop is on the back and not twisted and slip the needle through.
Hope that helps. It took me lots of tries to get it right but I did - well 99% of the time anyway. I still sometimes get it wrong.

Can someone show me a video of that???????

Awesome sail, are you gonna voyage to page 3 next?? I am so anxious to see this grow

Thanks Sally. I have done loop start a bit about a year ago and in my haste and laziness I tried to make it work without stopping to refresh my memory and made a mess. Not an hour later I was watching Pam Reid's latest videos and she demo'd a loop start.

The tiny graduations in the sail colour must be driving you bonkers, but it looks absolutely fabulous.

As a result of this project I have become much more aware of Geoff Hunt's work and see it quite regularly now. Even have his work gracing the cover of a book I was given for Christmas: 'Nelson's Favourite, HMS Agamenon'

Richard

Thank you all for checking in on my progress and for the praise given.

When I'm stitching it feels a bit mundane because nothing seems to be taking shape as a result of my efforts. It doesn't help that the colors are subtle in shade difference and earth toned, but I try to remind myself that I am stitching what amounts to background and soon enough I'll be packing 60 symbols into a 10x10 area and whining about the confetti.

I first become aware of Geoff Hunt's work when I saw someone doing a cross stitch of his "Agamemnon opens fire on the Ca Ira" painting several years ago. His paintings are quite remarkable as is his generosity and kindness in granting permission for me to create this pattern.

The next page will be page 3 to the right, but first I have two HAED's that I will work on a page each before coming back to this one so expect a lengthy delay before my next update on this project.

Congratulations on finishing Page 2. The details are amazing. I can see the wrinkles in the sail. I am really looking forward to more updates on this. I guess I'll have to wait for your HAED updates first. :D

It's fantastic! Looks like you have completed the two least interesting pages in terms of details, so hopefully you will be able to enjoy the confetti soon!
