After slowly updating Luz since rotating from Gryff, I have finally finished page 15 of the chart:
Image

And here it is:
Image
So, that is 42810 of 110730 stitches - or 38.66% complete.
Does feel as if, at last, I am getting somewhere.

It was very strange, the rune books didn't look like books at all until the last 100 stitches or so. Very strange how they suddenly appeared from nowhere.

Regards,

Richard

It's almost miraculous how sometimes one's stitching looks like nothing on earth, and then suddenly it does! I love the realistic folds in the fabric covering her legs.

Yes, I agree Amazing. I was looking at the folds & did not realise the books of rune were there until I read all of your post Richard. This is going ot totally different to anything I have seen before. & a totally wonderful creation to have made when it is done.

Is your other project the beautiful marmalade cat? I will get used to who is doing what soon, hopefully that is :)

Only doing the two at the moment, but they are pretty big & will keep me going for may more years.

Regards,

Richard.

Don't know if it's Welsh, he was one of 4 in his litter. His name was 'Gryffindor' and his siblings were 'Hufflepuff', 'Slytherin' and 'Ravenclaw'.
The breeder's kids named them all.

She's looking amazing! The detail in that cloth.... I guess from a distance it would look as if it was actually folded rather than just flat and stitched.
It's always a good idea to sit back and view from a distance as I'm sure you do!

Well done!! :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

:applesauce: :applesauce: Absolutely beautiful! I think one of the most fun as well as amazing things is when all of a sudden you see all the detail drawn together into the image it is supposed to be. Sometimes (often) I don't see it until I take a photo and then all of a sudden, lace looks like lace, or fabric looks like fabric etc. Kind of like a little miracle.

The detail in this one is fantastic!

Richard, I have just looked up Gryffindor & it is one of the 4 Hogwart's houses. This one has the lion as its emblem so perhaps that rather an apt name for your gorgeous cat.

Wendy,

At the moment I don't often get to look at it at a distance, but when finished, I'm sure I will. My 'Honeymoon Portrait' is on the living room wall, almost straight across the room from my stitching chair. This will probably go somewhere similar.

Daisy,

I am actually quite glad we got Gryff. One of the other litters from the same breeder was named after Dr Who assistants... First time we saw him, Gryff was at the bottom of a heap of kittens, getting his whiskers chewed off by Hufflepuff.

Regards

Richard.

Things have been going slowly on this, but I am making some progress.
I re-started Luz on 19 June and I have got just over half way through page 16 of the chart. The chart x-ref image is:
Image

And the progress is, zoomed in on the area:
Image

And an overview of progress so far:
Image

So her sword & left foot are now visible. I shall proceed a little with the rune books towards the bottom of the page before moving over to Gryff at the end of the month.
To be honest, I am surprised at the detail that has emerged with Luz's foot. Unexpected but rather nice. With the sword blade it looked as if nothing was there until I finished the background below it. Very strange how the picture seems to reveal itself.
The thread mat on the back is quite thick, approaching 3mm (1/8") in places where I have had to put in quite a few colours in a congested area.

Regards,

Richard.
