Finished the pointers!

Image

They're on their way to Steph (talamasca) and I really hope she and her mum like them - little bit nervous as my stitching usually ends up hidden in a cupboard rather than on show!

I wasn't planning to start this next one until I'd finished one of my other WIPs but I bought the materials at the start of the year as a house-moving present to myself (had to close my eyes to click "purchase" - never spent that much on stitching stash, ever  ) and they've been teasing me with their prettiness ever since so I thought completing the pointers was enough of an achievement to justify a new start.

It's a Chatelaine, Arabian Walled Garden (link). Just done a small part so far and lots more backstitch and beads to come even on that small area but I'm quite pleased with how it's turning out. I don't *think* there's too much more fractional stitching with DMC310 on the black 32ct Belfast linen...

Thanks for looking!

:whoop: :whoop: :whoop: Well Done on a beauiful finish to the Pointers - they are already appreciated.

WOW - love your new start and what a great colour that wall is - very alive and vibrant. Looking forward to more updates on this one - in fact I will pull up the 'virtual couch' and watch it grow. .

The Pointers are wonderful (having to look at the thumbnail as PB has decided it hates me today - given how erratic PB's response is to IE I try never to direct anyone to PB & insert the IMG link without its url wrapper instead)

The Chatelaine is going to be incredible. The colours are gorgeous. Doing it on 32 ct, is that 1 over 1 on the cross stitch bits? If so, how tiny can you get?

Regards,

Richard.

Thanks so much everyone! I really enjoyed stitching the pointers and I'm glad I was able to help Steph get it finished.

I'm sorry Richard, Photobucket is not too bad for me at the moment (on Chrome with AdBlock) so I lazily posted the thumbnail. I did read your resize/image only suggestion previously though and tried that out with the other picture. I sometimes like to be able to see the original size of other people's pictures so that's why I've chosen thumbnail links myself. I may reconsider. Anyway, just for you, a resized, full image is below!

Regarding the Chatelaine, the cross stitch bits are over 2 with 1 or 2 strands depending on the type of thread. There is some over 1 stitching elsewhere in the design. It would be actually impossible to stitch 1/4 and 3/4 crosses over 1 on 32ct I think.

Thanks. I hadn't meant to put you to any bother, but it is nice to see the image like that... :) Photobucket can be a pain at times, and their attempts to get revenue are increasing the adverts to the point where they are bombarding every advert all over the place & it's really intrusive. Unfortunately the both the pages & refresh method are very complicated too, confusing the browser to the point it usually dies within 5 minutes of starting to look at a page. It almost makes you want an alternative site, but they all seem to have similar problems. Ho Hum.

The picture does look really well stitched - and it is just so good of you to do it for someone else. I could critique the image conversion a little (I won't), but there is nothing to say about your stitching other than 'Fantastic job.'.

Regards,

Richard.

No bother at all, I'm not sure if I like posting giant images but am going to experiment to find a compromise size as I do take your point about Photobucket links. :)

Re: Rosemary's 2016 progress - Update 1 Dec

I have completed the first section of the Arabian Walled Garden (apart from beading):

Image

However...

When I took it out of the Q-snap I discovered with a horrible sinking feeling that I have stitched it the wrong way on the fabric. :tantrum: What an idiot!

I've counted and it will still just fit horizontally with half an inch of fabric to spare either side, but this has provoked an all-out war between the perfectionist and more practical parts of my brain. The perfectionist is saying "No no no you have done it WRONG, this is unacceptable and you must start again", and the practical side is saying "Well, it still fits, I'm sure you can attach an extra strip of fabric for framing and let's face it you rarely get anything framed anyway".

Any suggestions for peaceful dispute resolution gratefully received.
