Dahliadoll’s 2016 CCS Goals/Progress (Update pics 12/31/16)

Post by DahliaDoll »

Greetings!

I am quite pleased with my CCS accomplishments for 2015. In looking forward to my plans and goals for 2016, although I love to make CCS greeting cards, I’m thinking they will take a back seat to some loftier goals. Although the motifs I stitch will still be quite small compared to the scale of stitching by many members on this forum, I am always quite encouraged by the favorable responses complimenting my work. Thank you all for your support!

So my plan still includes some greeting card options, but, as stated, they are only listed as time-permitted possibilities.

Here's the plan:
  • *Stoney Creek Woodland Animals Birth Record (DGD born 2/21/16) DONE!
    *Motifs for Advent mittens DONE!
*Nature’s Harmony (for DD … UFO from 2014)
*Dog Lessons (DD#1’s BD in April) DONE! ... Put on the pocket on a Market Bag I made for her.
*Cat Lessons (DD#2’s BD in October) DONE! ... Put on the pocket on a Market Bag I made for her.
*Stoney Creek Seasons series (for me some day)
    January
    • No special dates this month which is great to give me a head start for the rest of the year.
    February
    • Valentine's cards-14th (Leslie, Emelie, Iris, Sonja, Shirley)
    • Anniversary card (J&K-12th)
    March
    • Birthdays (Linda-12th, Marcia-19th)
      Easter (27th)
    April
    • BD cards (Leslie-4th, Kathy-5th, Susan-11th, Iris-23rd) DONE!
    May
    • Mother's Day cards (Leslie, Emelie, Shirley - 8th) DONE!
    June
    • BD card (Karen - 10th) DONE!
    • Father’s Day (Anders, Matthias - 19th) DONE!
    July
    • Anniversary card (E&M - 17th) DONE!
    August
    • BD card (Matthias - 6th)
    • Anniversary card (L&A - 16th) DONE!
    October
    • BD card (Emelie - 4th) DONE!
    • Halloween card (Iris) DONE! -not CCS-
    November
    • BD card (Anders - 5th) DONE!
    • BD card (Sonja - 9th) DONE! -not CCS-
    December
    • BD card (Shirley) DONE!
      Christmas ornament (Iris) DONE!
      Christmas ornament (Sonja) DONE!
Christmas ornament (Julia) DONE! -not CCS-

Great and ambitious plans! I really admire those of you who make goals for the coming year. ( One of the first things I did when I retired was to stop making many goals.) Looking forward to watching your projects during the coming year. I know they will be as lovely as the ones you stitched this past year!

I'm in awe of your list of goals---I am a lot like Carole--I pick and choose what to stitch on and get a project finished whenever :? Oh, there is the rare occasion where I will do something that is to be done by a certain time, but that's rarely the case now

When I retired is when I started setting more goals. With that much more time, it's more realistic that I can accomplish much of it. Isn't it interesting how we all approach life in our own way.

An impressive list to be sure and plenty there to keep you busy for sure. Good luck with it.

I have found it too difficult to make set goals at the start of the year, as there is always someone in the family/circle of friends who has a special event coming up which requires some sort of stitchy gift so I just go with the flow.

Just thought I'd post a little progress report, but no show-and-tell for now. I've finished a small penguin motif for the Advent Mittens. I purchased fabric for the Woodland Animals birth record, changed my mind, ordered more fabric, and now think I'm ready to proceed with some stitching on it. I'm afraid Valentine cards may not be CCS this year. I sometimes do machine embroidery designs to mount on cards, so that may be this year's theme. I hope to machine embroidery some organza hearts for one of my DDs, too.

I admire your organization and goals. I'm going to make a list of projects I have to get done (graduation, Christmas), and the ones I want to do. I don't know how many I'll actually cross off the list, but maybe it'll help me stay focused on stitching what I have as opposed to buying more. (Yeah, right, who am I kidding????)

Just another verbal update. I'm going to wait to post pictures till a project is actually finished ... hopefully, I'll have something soon!

In January I completed several more small motifs for the Advent mittens ... sleigh, gingerbread house, and candy canes.

I'm still working on the birth record and making good progress. Baby Julia Everly (GDG#3) was born February 21st! I'd really like to finish it this week so that I can get it framed up for her soon. No waiting for her 1 year birthday ... or later!

I'm reconsidering some of my other project plans, so we shall see what the year brings once the birth record and Advent motifs are finished up.

I'm excited to finally have some finishes to show you. I haven’t done my usual CCS greeting cards for Valentine’s Day and Easter this year. I’m still working on April’s birthday cards. I’ve made one CCS card for DD#1, a CCS card for a crafting buddy of mine, a pressed flower card for a friend, and have a motif ready for a birthday card for DGD#1. It’s a busy birthday month for my family and friends.

This birth record took quite some time, but it was certainly a joy to work on. It's for DD#2's first child. She's not a fan of CCS, but when I showed her the chart, she said she would like me to make it for her. She helped pick out the frame and matts. I just picked it up today. The chart is from Stoney Creek.

Here's a little birthday card for DD#1. This cart was an online freebie.

DD#1 loves dogs, so this Lizzie Kate chart, Dog Lessons for People, makes a nice addition to a market bag for her birthday.

Here's a little card I made for a CCS friend's birthday. Sorry it's sideways. I can't seem to fix it.
Image

Currently, I'm start to work on a few small charts to make into Mother's Day cards. I give cards to my DDs who are both now mothers. I also like to send a Mother's Day card to a friend who has always been my roll model in mothering. She started her family quite some time before I did, so she's way ahead!
