Honestly, some people are so talented it makes you want to give up & go home. [mutter, mutter, grumble]
The overall effect of the montage is quite something.

Richard.

Thanks Richard, but I wish I was a better photographer and editor - you would never guess from that picture that they were all done on the same fabric !richardandtracy wrote:The overall effect of the montage is quite something.

The blue one is beautiful Mabel & then I saw the whole lot. Brilliant, really lovely each one of them. All such lovely colour mixes. It goes without saying that they are all so neatly worked as yours normally are.

Would you believe that's actually metallic leather? It's got felt padding behind it, which is why it's curved.xstitchalanna wrote:I love the silver paper behind the blue one!

Re: 2016 Round in Circles Hardanger SAL
Mabel, I need to block your posts. Your stuff is so well designed & executed that I need to stop seeing it. I know I cannot stitch anywhere near so well & as a result get more and more miserable about the whole stitching lark.
Keep it up though. Always useful to have a target to aim for. (Or is it 'aim at'?)
Regards,
Richard

Re: 2016 Round in Circles Hardanger SAL
Richard, I'll take that as a compliment however it was meant
But I honestly believe we all have our strengths and weaknesses in our stitching/needlework/crafts. I can crochet but I can't knit for toffee; I can design and stitch these small projects but I don't think I have ever in my life finished anything over a foot square, let alone several feet of teenyweeny stitches making what is in effect a photograph or painting in thread.
So I look with great pleasure at your SAL/WIP thread, and those of several others who do HAEDs or similar projects, and I admire profoundly and enjoy seeing a complex project beautifully executed but I also recognise that that is simply not what I do.
I have long since chosen to stitch what I am good at and what I enjoy - and this has led to one or two WIPs becoming first UFOs and then OAPs, but I felt that was the better option than soldiering on with something that had become a chore. They were all projects I loved the look of, and would gladly sit on the Magic Bench and enjoy seeing someone else stitch, they just weren't for me.
So I hope you can get some enjoyment from these projects even if you would never choose to stitch them yourself

Definitely compliment. Nothing quite like trying a joke and having it go seriously flat...

Re: 2016 Round in Circles Hardanger SAL
The coloured set looks awesome too Mabel. Any ideas as to what you will do with them???? As you know I have taken to making cards of them to try and reduce the stash.
Next year I will go through both folders and take out the instructions for various shapes of Kloster blocks and different stitches which I know I will use again and put them all into 1 folder and discard the rest. I need to seriously destash before a house move which is in the "thinking about stage".
It has been a wonderful journey and I have learned much and put some of it to good use too. Thank you Mabel for your wonderful creativity and patience.
