I did some work on the bee at my stitching group yesterday, and then managed to get a fair bit of stitching time in the evening before Miss lexi decided that my lap was the place to be

. It is not easy to juggle a cat, a hoop-on-a-stand, a velvet cutting board, a pair of scissors, some VERY springy gold wire, and a laying tool all at once, so I gave up

Nearly finished the chip work on the leaf, though! When the whole leaf is finished I'm going to unpick the body very carefully, trying to salvage the tarnished gold, and combine it with silver to make a stripy bee.

and here is a close-up of the chip work. It's not nearly as even as I would like, but I'm happy with it as a first attempt

Finished

In the original kit, the bee had a body done in gold only, and no antennae; because the gold had tarnished and I didn't have any more of it, I unpicked it and restitched it interspersed with silver. So he is now a proper stripy bee

, and he's also got antennae.

The first pic shows the whole thing, the second is an attempt to show the sparkle.
