Not clever, I'm afraid - pure luck :-). And yes, it is herringbone. Ideally I would do the herringbone first, then stem stitch the outlines, which is what I'll write in the instructions.

I did put in another little addition - this was very much part of the original design but I then left it off because for a card it wasn't practical. But as this one is too big for a card anyway, and will just be kept in my stitched model folder, I thought I'd add it to see if the idea worked. Here it is with steam coming off the hot liquid of choice inside, courtesy of some organza ribbon:

The real problem is that the inside of the mug isn't all black and crusty with tea residue.
Otherwise, perfect.

Regards,

Richard.

Because of some basic miscalculations on my part it now turns out that the large mug does in fact fit my largest aperture cards, and that the smaller mug is still too big for the smaller aperture card. Oh well. Here is the smaller one, minus steam as I couldn't fit that in the card (I will, one of these days, do one with the steam curling out of the aperture on to the card - watch this space), in three pics: just finished, side by side with the larger one, and in a card:

These were completed a few weeks ago but I've not been around much :-(

It's the same old Wildflower Garden :-) but I used it to try out two different fabrics, medium cotton canvas and cotton duck. There will be a FoF about the comparison some time in the future.

really gorgeous, esp the one on blue fabric. Very nicely worked, you have a really wonderful gift being able to do this variety stitches so neatly - must take a lot of practice but so worth it, all your hard work certainly pays off :applesauce: :applesauce:
