It might be "same old Wildflower" but it still looks wonderful on different fabrics! :applesauce:

I agree, WW.

I like the white fabric, myself, despite being a bit stark, perhaps.

:applesauce: :applesauce: Amazing how the same design, same colors and threads can look different when the fabric is a different color as well as a different type. This design is beautiful on both. I'm another who especially likes the blue background.

One more mug, the smaller of the two, and I did a few things differently (FoF to follow :-) ), most noticeably I managed to get the steam to curl "out of" the card.

Back to my Tree of Life leaf experiments! This one is worked in detached buttonhole stitch; I first tried that on a doodle cloth in perle, and in that the texture showed up much more clearly. Here it's all a bit fuzzy and melts into each other. Still, it looks pleasant enough.

The original idea was to outline it in dark stem stitch, but I decided against that, as I thought it would look too prominent. If I had thought of it before, I would have worked a medium-coloured split stitch outline first, and worked the buttonhole over it. But I'm not going to unpick it all! so the split stitch outline will be tried out when I work this leaf in Ceylon stitch.

The whole tree is going to be a sort of sampler, that's true. Although how I'm going to decide which ones actually to use  I may have to do several trees...

I'd been meaning to pick the threads and wires for this over the Christmas break, but did it happen? Nah. So here's hoping for this weekend. A chance remark by Podolyanka about stitching a whole outfit in goldwork to match the boot I did recently gave me a thought about parasols or umbrellas, and as it happens I've ended up with one of each :-)

Here they are on their fabrics, the umbrella to be done in silver and the parasol in gold. Both will also have a bit of appliqué. Not much to see so far but I thought I'd show it from the beginning. If anyone is interested in the design process behind it, I wrote a bit about that on FoF.
