I hadn't thought of that Wendy, what a lovely idea! I hope I won't have to any time soon, but it would give a message of remembering the loved one who is gone, wouldn't it?

I agree. Would most certainly make a sympathy message even more meaningful.

Some time ago I tried out various #12 greens for the Floral Gems workshop-to-be, but two of them never got past the green outer border; so when I had time for a smallish project last night I decided to finish one of them.

I my choice of gems I tried to echo the colours in the butterfly, matching the peach, lilac and light blue (but unfortunately not the light turquoise - I haven't any floral gems in that colour)

Not really a project, just a stitch experiment to look at yet another way to use sequins in Hardanger. You can read about the method in more detail on FoF.

Interesting idea for sequins. My first thought is how, well, solid it is. :thinks:

As solid as a bead would be there, I suppose, perhaps actually a bit more so. It's got two diagonals holding it in place, both above and below it, so once it's secured it won't flip or anything, it'll stay flat and central - was that what you were wondering about, possible flipping?

I like the airy-ness of needle weaving in hardanger, so a bead (which can be translucent) is ok, and doesn't seem to take up so much space. Do translucent sequins exist?

Yes, they do! These semi-transparent iridescent ones would go well with your blue-and-Moonglow combination, I think

A few small projects, and a few set up!

Another Floral Gem:

Delft on 28ct fabric to see if it would fit in a coaster. It does :-)

Black 28ct Lugana plus sparklies for two versions of Old & New, initially inspired by fireworks:

And I'm finishing a SAL alternative - I'd stitched the Kloster blocks and the circle outline, but not decided on how to fill in the rest. No pics, unfortunately, but hoping to finish it tonight.

I am always totally amazed at all the different projects you think up Mabel and these 3 are no exception.

I especially love the Coaster - is it likely to see the light of day for sale on your web site - it would be so much quicker to do than the Sweetheart Tree ones I have been using.

Wonderful stitching all of it. :whoop: :whoop: :whoop: :whoop: :whoop: :whoop: :whoop:

Thank you Sally - it was fun to do the coaster although it made me realise that I do need help (either better light or better glasses) to work on dark 28ct now!

Delft was originally designed for a course I taught in Rugby, and has been on the website for some time, but with 22ct Hardanger as the recommended fabric. To make it fit the coaster it has to be stitched on 28ct, and the beads have to be replaced by 2mm sequins.
