Did manage to finish another leaf in between craft-rooming :-)

raised chain, whipped backstitch and three "chips" of bright check.

Now it's kit making and craft room finishing for a bit!

Such beautiful work, you must be very patient. I have looked at your other stitching & all are exquisite; much variety of stitches & so many glorious colours.

I will look at stitches in one of my books to see exactly how they are made. I do not want to do them but like to see how embroidery stitches are worked. It is amazing what big variety there are & good to see many on here instead of just in book.

Ella, I have very little patience, which is why I stitch such a lot of small projects :-) - but you're right, I do like my different stitches!

If you ever feel that you would like to try some of these stitches, I'm hoping to do the finished Tree of Life as a SAL, with lots of alternatives for the various leaves. It won't be for a while, but who knows, you might feel inspired :-)

When I did the appliqué Christmas tree some time ago, a lady at my stitching group said would I teach them (or as many of them as were interested) how to make one. We didn't manage in time for last Christmas, but are now talking of doing a workshop over the summer. The dark green fabric with gold holly & robins I got recently was meant for that, and I found another pretty holly fabric online (which you can just see in the first picture).

Here is the start of the first tree, a slightly more subtle green and gold - the other one will have a red edge (perhaps even bright red!) and of course the fabric itself is lighter and brighter. This one will have some small clusters of matt red beads, like holly berries; I'll hopefully egt round to that tonight (lots of evening things going on this week! meetings and stuff)

Added beads to the dark tree, and finished the light one; here they both are, and I was surprised at how different they look. The last pic shows them together, demonstrated by Lexi...

:applesauce: :applesauce: I like both of them. I'm not surprised that they look different since the colors, fabrics, beads are different. The stitch is the same which connects them, but the tones are so different. So many possibilities.

and the paws are especially adorable!!!

Another leaf, and another lesson learnt - when you're not planning on solidly covering the whole background, don't leave pencil lines showing...

This is Cretan stitch, and I'd drawn a double guideline down the centre of the leaf, but of course the lines show through the open stitches! I've had a go with a bit of eraser cut to a fine point, and it's better than it was, but next time I'll either have to use dotted guidelines, or do it by eye!
