I've been doing some minis just to keep my hand in as I didn't seem to be able to settle down to anything serious, so I've now compromised on my experimental leaves - serious but mini :-)

This is the third leaf I've tried, and it won't look like this eventually because I transferred it wrong, from an earlier version but I didn't want to let it go to waste. I'm pleased with the padded satin stitch on the bird's wing!

A sad little project had to take priority over further leaves - a sympathy card for a friend whose mother died on Sunday. She was nearly 96 and had been getting very vague, but that doesn't make it any easier, does it?
Nancy was a woman of strong and deepfaith, which is why I chose to stitch an anchor with the first words of one of the hymns she loved so much, "we have an anchor that keeps the soul"

Wonderful pieces you've made Mabel. :applesauce: :applesauce: :D

Sad about the lady's mother, always emotional no matter what age the person is who dies. Her daughter will be very touched by your kindness. Love that hymn, that's the motto for the Boys' Brigade at Methodist Churches if I remember correctly. Also like 'One more step along the road I go'. These 2 hymns always remind me of the small church I went to years ago.

I've been going back through this thread to put all the pictures in again and realised that I never posted the stitched versions of two of these freebies. So here they are, the cat you've already seen, a tulip, and a small floral design which is stitched on fabric because I had only two wooden pendants :-)

I love those little designs on wood, saw them before, but they stand to be repeated. :D
