Side Lined by Material

Re: Side Lined by Material
Well I have been very busy at work and have not done a lot of stitching. I normally take the week-end for housework and things like grocery shopping and kids and friends but have some stuff to get completed. Probably have to go in for a bit tomorrow also.
I also brought home the other camera so here is a pic of the stitches close up.
As you can see the diamonds to the left are stitched with 2 threads then like the ones to the right you use a single thread and do a cros in the middle of the shape.

Re: Side Lined by Material
Such a prettyful draon Rose. The close up is great. Thank you.
Re: Side Lined by Material
Using different weights of thread does give your dragon real depth, brings it alive. It's really coming along smashingly.
Re: Side Lined by Material
Oh wow, lovely, Rose. Isn't it amazing the different stitches and nos of threads give to the shading. Clever designing and lovely stitching.

So pretty! Some of the stitches look a lacey type of effect. They really do work so well on this piece.

Thanks for the close-up -- isn't it wonderful the effects that can be achieved with different numbers of strands and patterns; it's a lovely project!

Re: Side Lined by Material
This is were I am on the dragon. I have a bit more to finish in the mane(is that what it is called) then finish the crosses that go inside the diamond shapes. The mane is silver the scales are iridescent white metallic. And the rest is 820 blue. I would like to add some wording on to this just a short quote so I think I will have this done in the next couple days.

The quote is another that my son wants done and I thought with the dragon it would look good. "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger" This one he does not know I am making for him it will be a surprise to go with his other one.

Re: Side Lined by Material
Just found a blackwork alphabet in an old Cross Stitch Crazy -- very chunky letters with the chunky bit filled in with backstitch and then thin bits to make up the letters.
Hmm, reading what I've just written it doesn't make much sense, but I'm sure I'll do one one of these days and then you can see it in the Mini Projects thread . I thought it would be a good way to get some blackwork in again!
