Side Lined by Material

Post by Rose »

I though I was going to get to start a new angel for my daughter over the week-end. We went though the final eight patterns and picked the one I was to do next. Then I got to looking around and the proper waste canvas that I need to stitch this one...... I don't have it. Can you believe that with all of my stash I don't have any 16ct waste. RRRRRRRRRRRRR I wanted to get back on these. So I have to wait until I get the stuff in. So frustrating. In the mean time I am going to finish up the blakwork Dragon I started. I am doing it on aida so the affect is a bit different. Anyway it goes pretty fast this was the amount I got done Sunday after tearing apart my wastecanvas drawer and ordering the right size.

Actually did a bit more stitching after this was taken. I will post some more tonight maybe. As I said it is very quick to stitch. Also you will notice I have not done it in one color I am experimenting.

Oh, yes, this dragon is beautiful, so it will be a consolation, I hope.

Oh how frustrating not to be able to get started when you had really set your heart on it! but the dragon looks great, and the aida will certainly help to give it a different effect. Good luck!

This looks great. I have always admired Blackwork. I think the experiment with colours is working too.

Oh I hate it when that happens. It is so frustrating!
Still we get to see a fabulous dragon, so I'm going to enjoy watching how this turns out, as I don't know too much about stitching blackwork, but think it looks wonderful.

Thanks for the sympathy everyone. It is going to be ok though and I really should have done this dragon first. I guess everything happens for a reason.

That's beautiful Rose! Could you perhaps post a close-up of the fill-in stitches as well? I'd love to see them in detail.

Thanks everyone. You are right the blackwork does go very fast I maybe done with this before my waste even arrives. It just flows so fast.

C-F I got this pattern about a year and a half ago from http://www.dragondreams.ca/Welcome.html" target="_blank. They have a whole bunch of cross stitch dragons and other mystical stuff. When I got it I ordered direct from them but it looks like they ar no longer doing the retail stuff. They do however give you links to sites that sell their patterns. This guy I think is there only blackwork dragon. But they have some other very nice ones.
