New Home card -- WIP

Post by Mabel Figworthy »

My sister-in-law has just moved house so my husband said, what about one of your cards, do you have anything suitable? I didn't, but i thought I could stitch something quickly if I found a nice design, so went through my big folder of cut out charts etc. Nothing.

So I thought I'd better design one myself....

Here's the first sketch:

The leaves of the flowers are lazy daisy stitch, but I couldn't find how to do those in my design program (haven't had it very long yet...). The flowerheads will be four or five fairly random colonial knots (can't get french knots to work  ). I'd better get stitching tonight if it's to be finished in time!

Not bad for one evening's work -- perhaps I will get it finished before they've decorated the house :-).

It's a great start! Looking good already. This looks such a cute design, I'm looking forward to seeing the completed article.

Oh all right, I'll admit it -- I did just a little more stitching before I went to bed last night *yawns* even though I have to be up at 6.30 to get stepson number 2 fed and watered before he's off to school.

But you know how it is -- just this row -- that colour has only four stitches I might as well do that -- if I finish that colour I'll have only the backstitch and the flowers to do...

Anyway, here it is so far:

hehe yes, I know that only too well. I have to go to bed at 10 to get up for work (needs me 8 hours sleep) but darn that project. I have got this mentality with my chinne that if I don't finish the thread I'm working with I'll never remember what I'm doing and....oh boy do I go to bed late :P

But it's looking good Mabel! Your late night payed off. So cute!

By the way, it's a good thing I've been taking those photographs -- I was looking at the one I posted last night and soemthing was niggling me; then I realised I'd forgotten to complete one of the three-quarter stitches (a green one near the turtle's neck).

You kind, tactful things, you, for not rubbing my nose in it :-)

Doesn't she just! I'll let you in on a secret -- I don't always put them right either...

If you have a close look at the gold blue and shiny white angel with the trumpet in my gallery, you may notice (though the picture is a little small to show it -- well, you don't want your blunders to be too easy for everyone to see) that the upper half of the body (the blue and gold bit) is actually half a stitch higher than the lower half (the white and gold bit).

An inaccurate bit of counting I didn't notice until I'd done about half the white, which is done with that springy Marlitt stuff which looks lovely but can be a pain to stitch with. So was I going to unpick all that?

Er...

*embarrassed whisper* no
