Thanks! I am really obssessed with seeing it develop now.
I know it isn't perfect, but I feel I am learning and improving as I go along.
Last night I sat up to 3am again stitching, and so I have another progress picture to show you.
The hat (boys) definately has to come out though

as it just isn't right.
I was curious as to some of you mention a 'ripper'. I use the needle to pull mine out and wondered what this ripper is?

As to the ripper, there are several things you can get. I have two things I use. One is my scissors have a little thing on the tip that is designed for catching the thread and snippng it. It keeps you from snipping the fabric. The other thing I've got is like a tiny switch blade on a little stick and it's called a stitch blade. It allows you to carefully go through several stitches at once. I know you can get them at nordic needle but I think most places carry them.

If I have to undo and I have not fastened off I 'Unstitch' I just go back through the holes, I have to be careful not to sew the thread down, but it usually works quite well.
I tend to never cut as I ruined a coaster doing that once, it was one over one on very fine evenweave though

The ripper that I use is a seam ripper you can find one anyplace that they sell sewing supplies. You can use it to just undo the stitches or if you get to a place that the thread needs to be cut one one side of the tool it is sharp so you can cut the thread. Depending on how much I have to undo I will use the thread ripper for lots of frogging and the needle for just a small amount of

Ah! So that's what it is. I have a feeling I have something very like that, I shall have to get it out and keep it right with me!I'm sure it will get plenty of use.

Having managed to wangle myself a bit of stitching time today, I have another progress picture to share. I'll put it up a bit later on.

I'm really, really enjoying this, frogging an all, lol.

Am going to have to tackle his hat next though and decide whether parts can be salvaged or if the lot needs to be redone. I won't bodge though, am determined this is going to be done right.

Looks good.I hope that you haven't gone too wrong on the hat and can salvage it. But good for you. A bodge job never gives the same sense of satisfaction.

Hmm, ok, wll on further investigation, it appears the hat is one row over to what it should be. To be honest, I could just get away with it by missing off a row here and adding one there, as long as I stick to the shadings.

Thinking about it though I decided to rip it all out and start again. I just want this to be done right and to feel like I have really achieved something once it's finished.

I know I've made alot of mistakes

but that's a positive thing in a way, because I'm learning all the time.

Anyhow, enough of me rambling on, I'm off to tackle the dreaded hat once more!!

Well the hat is coming on again now. It looks a little worse for wear in places as the stitches are a little ragged, this being due to some rather over enthusiasic frogging on my part.

The aida was almost non existant and there is no chance of it being undone again had I made another mistake.

So I'm being ultra careful now.

Anyhow, almost done, so another progress picture should hopefully be uploaded tonight!
