11 Takayama, Japan

This was my favorite city on our honeymoon. It is a historical preserved city (I think it's a Unseco world heritage site).

We stayed in a traditional Japanese guest house called a ryokan, the first picture is day time and the second is when they make up it for sleeping:

Image

Image

Yup, that's you sleeping on the floor on the tatami mats. It was better then it sounds. We had a great time there!

There was a cool cemetery there too:

Image

The Japanese bury their dead straight up and down, unlike us.

We also checked out one of the old sake breweries in Japan:

Image

Image

Yes, we brought some home!

Also, had one of the best dinners ever. Local beef, each region of Japan has their own, but the rest of the world has usually only heard of Kobe beef. It was amazing.

20 Brno, Czech Republic

Brno wasn't originally on our iteniary, but we had just gotten engaged and Budapest wasn't as awesome as we were hoping so we changed our plans and headed to the second largest city in the Czech Republic.

We headed up these stairs:

Image

To take this view:

Image

And yes, my husband has height issues.

Then we walked uphill the entire time at the zoo, but saw this polar bear who kept falling backwards in the water, it was pretty funny. I think I have video of it too. :)

And we checked out a castle outside of town:

Oh, the steak looks yummy and the polar bear is so cute! But, alas, no numbers for me so I stand at 2.

Sorry for missing yesterday! Lunch gave me an upset tummy so I just watched movies all night from the couch. Anyways here are yesterday's numbers, and I probably will not post again today or tomorrow.

15 Asheville, NC USA

We visited Asheville for my husband's birthday in 2013. He loves beer so we visited 13 II think) breweries in 4 days ;)

First up is Biltmore:

Image

It was my choice of places to go and I love this sort of thing, however there were just so many people there. And it was hot, and they were like herding people around. I was miserable, maybe in the off season it's better.

We then went to a farm that grows hops for beer:

Image

It was pretty interesting even though I don't like beer. :)

Then later we went driving on the Blue Ridge Expressway and was coming down the mountain and saw a cool waterfall and took a river picture:

Image

5 Toronto, Canada

We love Toronto. My husband likes to say the city so nice we had to visit twice. We went twice in 2013, once in January and once in November. We keep joking that it's probably a way different town in the summer when it's warm, but we never seem to go then.

Image
I think it was part of a design school.

We went to the shoe museum:

Image

And we stopped at Niagara Falls on the way home:

I loved Biltmore. I think we were there in the fall, many years ago. We used to drive up to the mountains in the fall when we could. Most of what I remember is that my dining room could fit in the fireplace of their dining room. With room to spare, I think. But it was Toronto that gave me another pick, so I'm 4/10 for now.

10 Brussels, Belgium

For our first European vacation (2009) we went to Germany, France & Belgium. I'm 90% sure the only reason we went to Belgium was for the beer, my husband is a big fan.

We walked around Brussels, had some fries, waffles, and chocolates. YUM.

I can't seem to find very many pictures, I know we took a bunch, but this is all I've got for now:

Image

View from our hotel room.

22 Tokyo, Japan

Again, part of our honeymoon. I think this is my favorite large city in the world. It's so clean. The transportation is amazing (Except for the panic attack I had at rush hour in Tokyo, it's no joke) and everyone is very nice.

We ate some awesome sushi:
Image

Played with the super fun toilets:
Image

Drank coffee with some fun art from a van:

Ordered food from a vending machine (you ordered it and then a waitress brought it over after it was done):

And took a cooking class:

I agree with Debby! But my picks have been a bit better. One more for me takes me half way there to 5/101

3 Reykjavik, Iceland

We decided on a whim to go to Iceland in late August 2012.

We stopped at the Blue Lagoon right by the airport when we got there, it's a huge tourist trap that is 100% worth it. It's a geothermal spa that is rich in minerals like silica and sulphur and bathing in the Blue Lagoon is reputed to help some people suffering from skin diseases such as psoriasis. It was great and I seriously loved it even if I was falling asleep.

and checked out the cool rocks:

got some amazing hot dogs for dinner:

and saw the Nordic ship sculpture:

2 Munich, Germany

Part of our 2009 vacation we stopped in Munchen. :)

Listened to a group playing classical music:

And stopped at the original hofbrauhaus, got beer and a huge pretzel!
