Re: Australasia Bingo-with some additions. Day 10 Up Now
just had too many bits of paper in the folder and forgot to throw out 1 set of numbers from last night's draw. Sorry folks and Niki (Fizzbow) please check your numbers again. So sorry folks.
Blame the dogs. Family are away and I am house sitting 2 dogs and 1 kitten/cat and the dogs are being a right royal pain in the - you know where. Not had much sleep the last 2 nights. Family back early Monday - hurray. so its my draw the next whatever number of nights.

Re: Australasia Bingo-with some additions. Day 11 Up Now
It was bugging me I couldn't remember about the other big hydroelectric river and lake in the South Island so googled it. Of course it is Lake Manapouri and it is down in Fiorjdland National Park. Another huge complex.
Our power is transferred to the North Island by huge power cables underneath Cook Straight (between the 2 Islands) and we often threaten to cut the cables, especially to Auckland who think they are God's gift to NZ. After all in the very early days it was the Gold Rush in the S I which financed much of Auckland and Wellington.
There is a small hydro power station on the Waikato River in the N I and it all keeps NZ working well.

Re: Australasia Bingo-with some additions. Day 12 Up Now
Oh boy what a night. Tuppence wouldn't answer my call so I hunted the house no sign. Started to get the dogs tea ready and noticed a blur outside - the little bbbbBrat wouldn't come in even then. Had to bribe him with the spare box of dry food. Phew great relief.
After all that here are tonights numbers #7 and # 14
A New Zealand Icon Aoraki/Mt Cook "Aoraki means cloud piercer" and of course Cook is after Captain Cook.
She is out highest mountain by a few thousand feet and has claimed a few lives over the years. Her current height is now 12,316 ft - she used to be 12,349ft (learnt that at primary school and it stuck) but then there was a big rockfall at the summit and she lost a few feet
You can always pick her out as the summit looks like an arm chair - however its anything but that.
The photo below was taken by my youngest, Chris, when he was working at The Hermitage (a large hotel) and often went for walks in his off duty time.
# 14. The Kiwi
This is our most well known emblem plus we are often called "Kiwis" and even call ourselves that too.
I have yet to see a live one as they are a nocturnal bird and even in a wildlife park with its specially darkened areas still haven't sighted on. Its feathers (more like quills) were very sort after by the Maori for making cloaks for their Chiefs and the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and Prince Charles have been presented with one each. It is a sign of CHIEF to see anyone wearing one.
So that is tonights lot for you all.
Please check your numbers and if you have Bingo then PM me asap with those numbers and which prize you would like - a surprise stash bag or a voucher. Surely there must be a winner soon - Monday will see the last of the draws in this game. !!!!!!!
Good luck all..

Re: Australasia Bingo-with some additions. Day 12 Up Now
Dragonrider - please check your numbers again as I have 5 marked off for you.
Real excitement for the next few days ladies - we have 3 people on 9 by my reckoning.
BTW It will be drawn about 3-4 hours earlier tomorrow as I have an online chat going from 7 pm with another forum. Plus it is also our Federal election day tomorrow and although it is looking clear cut - who knows what may turn the tide for 1 party.

By the way the chart arrived today, it's brilliant thank you so much. The cat on the letter you included looks so cute and seems somehow pleased with itself

Wow, this is very close! Great photos again Sally, and hope Tuppence and the dogs start minding their manners. I'm sending them a glare so you can get some rest!

Pictures of the stash I bought with my winnings are on the "Has the postmand brought you anything interesting" thread in General.
Heidi, so glad it arrived.
Just to whet your appetite the numbers for this afternoon's bingo have been drawn - could be an interesting race to "Bingo".
