Numbers 7 and 8
Number 7 ~ Watergate Bay

Famous for its sheer size and grandeur – two miles of perfect sand, backed by monumental cliffs that teem with bird life. It is an extremely popular destination for surfers, kite-surfers and kite buggying.
Every year there is the Boardmasters festival which is a mix of surfing and music with people coming from all over the world.
It’s also where Jamie Oliver invested in young chefs and started up his Fifteen restaurant – way out of our price bracket although they do special tasting menus.

Number 8 ~
The resort is widely regarded as the surf capital of the UK. Newquay is a centre for the surf industry in Britain, with many surf stores, board manufacturers and hire shops in the town. Whilst my partner was into surfing I spent many hours standing round in surf shops while he discussed boards!

At the centre of Newquay's surfing status is Fistral Beach which has a reputation as one of the best beach breaks in Cornwall. Fistral is capable of producing powerful, hollow waves and holding a good sized swell. There are several beaches and they all make good holiday venues.
Recently it has quite a bad reputation as it has become a stag and hen party venue. Also, it is where a lot of teenagers come to celebrate the end of exams. Over the last few years there have been several deaths of youngsters falling of the cliffs whilst drunk
The town are trying to address the problem and won’t let anyone bring alcohol into the many camping sites.
Image
You can see here how it has several beaches.

Here are sunday's numbers
Numbers 20 and 17

Number 20~ Kynance Cove
To me this is one of the most beautiful places I have been to. I have a memory many years ago of an evening spent exploring the caves and rocks with my brother and it is still one of my most treasured memories. It is situated on the Lizard peninsula approximately two miles north of Lizard Point. Kynance Cove and the surrounding coast are owned by the National Trust.
What makes it so special is that it is a steep 10-15 minute walk down to the cove but when you get there the sand is white and the sea is a turquoise blue.
At low tide you can explore the towering rocks stacks and the caves with names such as The Parlour and The Drawing Room. Again, it makes me very sad that with my new disabilities I doubt I shall ever get there again (Or if I did I would never get out again!!)

Image
Number 17~Penzance
Penzance stands on the south facing shores of the beautiful Mounts Bay. It is a market town with a wealth of history, making it an interesting holiday venue. It is well known for being the most westerly major town in Cornwall and is approximately 75 miles west of Plymouth and 300 miles west-southwest of London
Penzance is on a peninsular almost completely surrounded by the sea. This in conjunction with the Gulf Stream, reduces the range of temperate changes.
It has the only promenade in Cornwall. The promenade is over a mile in length and makes an interesting walk. The walk starts at the quay and can be followed to the charming fishing port of Newlyn. There is also a large outdoor swimming pool, or Lido, which is filled with seawater for the season each year.

None for me. But I love the look of Kynance Bay/cove whatever it was. I wonder if the steep walk would be doable for me? I must have a holiday sometime and that looks like a great place to aim for as my Caribbean island dream doesn't seem to be happening.....

I have energy and stamina issues not actual mobility. Pacing.....

Just to reassure you I am still using the random number picker!
Numbers 14 and 11
Number 14 ~ Cape Cornwall
Cape is a small headland in Cornwall. It is four miles north of Land's End near the town of St Just.
A cape is the point of land where two bodies of water meet and until the first Ordnance Survey, 200 years ago, it was thought that Cape Cornwall was the most westerly point in Cornwall It is only since then that Land’s End has won that award. It is very unusual as it is the only Cape in England.
The spectacular hump-backed cape boasts a 138 year old mine chimney stack. It rises to a height of 229 feet above sea level and offers wonderful view over the coast, worth the steep climb to the top. All this area is now owned and maintained by the National Trust.
It was very heavily mined and so there are many more disused tin mines in the area.

Image

Number 11 ~ Hell’s Mouth

I had to put this in as it is the site of our favourite café in Cornwall. In the middle of nowhere there is what look little more than a hut but it is open in the summer for wonderful home cooked cakes, lunches and cream teas.
This café is just set back from the cliff tops and at the bottom is Hell’s mouth, a rocky beach that is not accessible without climbing gear. The cliffs above Hell's Mouth are one of the highest points in the area at 88 metres (almost 290 feet) with a sheer drop to the sea.
The erosion of the cliffs at Hell's Mouth has resulted in some interesting caves on the east side. These make a loud booming noise as they fill with surging waves. The waves compress air into cracks and cavities in the rock, causing further erosion. The cove, cliffs and two isolated stacks out to sea are popular breeding grounds for guillemots and razorbills, fulmars and kittiwakes.
Famously last year a large part of the cliff just fell into the sea on a hot sunny day and someone happened to be standing nearby with a camera and filmed it. The video very quickly became a hit on You tube.. Here is a link to the clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdsxtCtX5nk" target="_blank" target="_blank. It is well worth watching!

You can just see the roof of the cafe.
