None today, still at 8/10. EEEEK!

I made some black currant jams last year... they never even made it online, as they sold out too fast at street markets. Very popular and tasty. :)

Getting close!!
Apologies for getting the numbers out so late, crazy day at work and sick toddler at home. But all is well now, work is out of mind for the next two days and toddler is now sleeping peacefully.

Now on to better things: today's numbers are ....

11. Brun Tomette, aka DMC 919
Tomettes are small hexagonal reddish-brown floor tiles that are very traditional in the Provence area. Notably, they were used to tile the floor of the dining room of Château of Vauvenargues, a gorgeous property in the southern mountains of France that at one point belonged to Picasso, who is buried there.
If you are interested in reading more about the chateau's fascinating history and relationship to Picasso, Wikipedia actually has a very good article here

28. Sisal, aka DMC 611
Sisal is an agave that yields a stiff fibre that has a million and one uses. Traditionally, it is used to make twine and rope because of its strength, durability, ability to stretch, affinity for certain dyestuffs, and resistance to deterioration in saltwater.

Its usage has also been developed to include dartboards, spa products, car scratching posts, paper, cloth, wall coverings and carpets, macrame, and in recent years sisal has been utilized as an environmentally friendly strengthening agent to replace asbestos and fibreglass in composite materials in various uses including the automobile industry.

Rugs made out of sisal fibre are pretty cool because they do not build up static nor trap dust, so vacuuming is the only maintenance required... and as we all know, housework is a waste of perfectly good stitching time 8)
