Saturday Rain

Post by wendywombat »

We have had a bit of rain here! The road is flooded and the fields have unofficial rivers. DH took some photos this morning so you can all see!
Have a look at our web page. Sign in as 'guest' then look under Tarn et Garonne spring floods.

  :( It's still raining too! :(

OMG, what a mess in the village!

Your little hideaway looks so lovely though, even when it's flooded! Makes me miss Australia, all the space and no neighbours!!

Hope the water has subsided a bit, now the hard work of mopping up starts. Hope your home wasn't affected too much.

Thanks, Girls for your concerns.
We are still having rain and high winds! :( We didn't have any water in the house but it did come down the chimney. We're on a ridge of high ground, so it flows each side of us. Most of the water has subsided now but the streams and rivers are Rushing. Both our cats are a bit Pussed Off with the weather and are hiding in the garage with DH, despite him using the power drill!
I can sit and stitch to the sound of the wind.

lol. Cats hate to get wet, they lose their scent. That's why you don't bathe a cat, well that and they bathe themselves.

As for myself, I'm more of a dog person, despite the fact that both our neighbours have cats which roam over our property freely and evil little buggars tease our dog. They sit on the frame of our car port and look down...almost grinning, as our dog barks at them  I can't count the number of times that I've almost run them over coming into our drive way. Bloody things don't move either, at least not until the fourth or fifth honk of my car horn  [/quote]

We were always Dog People before we came here. The cats just arrived, and as we had a mouse problem  we let them stay. They are 'outside' cats though. The rather beautiful tortoiseshell Willow should be called Widdle as she is not house trained at all!!!!  :( At least they fulfil our need for a pet to stroke.

We have an elderly labrador and once had a cat, alas gone to that place that cats go. We now have a selection of rodents and RABBITS. We've had to put mesh all around the veg beds in an efforts to actually eat some of it ourselves. I'm tempted to get a brace of Siamese. We used to keep them, and they were great at rabbiting...

I too am more of a dog person, but I've had 2 extraordinary cats, that prove there's always exeptions to the rule. We've had almost all of Noah's ark over the years.

10 dogs, 7 cats, scores of birds inc a pet duck and wild geese that adopted us when they had goslings and needed help feeding them during the drought! (we also had an avairy as well as parrots, finches and even a tame minor bird that flew in and out of the house as she pleased!), 4 horses, 8 cows, a sheep, 2 house trained and (2 not) rabbits, 12 guinea pigs, and 37 rats (my sister breeds and shows them!)

Now I live in a small flat so all we have now is a soppy greyhound!!

The snakes Are American corn snakes. they are a breeding pair and very loving both to each other and us. The Lisard is actually a geckho, a Bibron Gecko to be exact, very nice markings.

We had white rats when our daughter was a teenager. They were clean and friendly pets. Very intelligent and loved buttered toast. At breakfast time they would hear the toaster and rush to the bars of the cage, little paws outstretched for a tiny piece of toast. True!!

I believe it WW!

Rats are so clever, they all have their own little personalities. They are very affectionate and sociable, and they don't smell. If they do it's because PEOPLE don't look after them properly. Me, my brother and sister built and decorated a ratty grotto when I was in Australia. It was the size of a wardrobe and was like a huge activity castle, lots of things to play, climb, hide etc.

One of my sister's fellow breeders has a picture of hers to give you an idea.

http://www.dapper.com.au/grotto.htm

I dare you to look at her pics and not utter a "awwwww! How sweet/cute!" Even you whiskers12!!
