Ah, C_F, don't be  Tea is one of those peculiar words in English English (or Scottish English, come to that). It usually refers to a meal: so, coming to tea might mean coming over and having a cuppa something hot with a little something to help it be not quite so wet. More usually, 'what's for tea' means what's for supper or (in some places) dinner. There are even those sort of types who make class and status judgements on how these very words are used (not me, of course).

Ain't language grand :!:

The whole tea, dinner etc thing gets very confusing in my house as I call the evening meal Tea, the middle meal lunch or dinner and breakfast is just breakfats. But of course DH is English, so we often get each other confused on this issue!!

The Caramel Chai sounds lurvly!! I have a vanilla Chai and about 6 different herbal teas, as well as the ol Yorkshire tea!!

Me too, if ASDA did fabric I'd be more interested in doing the grocery shopping each week!!

Mind, I'm feeling quite happy with myself as I've bought about 20mtrs in total of fabric on ebay for about £25 in total.

I'm making 2 summer dresses, a summer skirt, a cord skirt, cord trouser/jeans, 2 little babydoll style satiny tops a coat and a jacket!!

I need 3 of them in 6 weeks so I have to get a wriggle on!!

There are some really great patterns out these days, really easy to follow. If you can cross stitch I don't think you'll have any worries. It doesn't even take as long as cross stitch!!

OK back to the Tea! I never thought that tea was slang for a meal! I meant dinner/supper or food generally. So Sorry C_F   The Lasagne sounded great, sorry I missed it! We had Poulet Basquaise or Chicken Basque and it was Yummy. I love flavoured teas. The French have every flavour for every occasion so you would be spoiled for choice here.

Oooh, sounds yummy WW!

Six books! That's gonna be tough!

I've just Staying At Daisy's by Jill Mansell, I think. My best friend lent it to me when I wasn't well enough to do my cross stitch but was going a bit mad doing not alot. It was relly good though, very funny!

What books are you reading, Raelou?

Hehe, we are much the same. We call dinner either 'dinner' or 'tea'. Generally if someone wants the actual beverage, it's called a 'cuppa' or a 'cuppa tea'.

I guess we all have some sort of language barriers...words getting lost in translation. Don't Americans call milk 'cream' and jam 'jelly' and jelly 'jello', etc? That gets me confused. :S
