Cross Stitcher Magazine mention

Post by Genevieve »

We got a mention in - Issue 186 of Cross Stitcher magazine - out Friday 30 March. Cross Stitch Forum was one of two 'top websites for chat'. :D
The other site was 'Cyberstitchers', which I had never heard of.

Thanks for asking what that was as I (another yank) had no clue. Read the directions but would have to see it performed to really get a good hold on it. Lets dance.

Imagine a Virginia Reel with attitude, and you've got it.

And then we'll move on to a Dashing White Sergeant or even, perhaps, a Gay Gordon (which should fox the unwary!!) :P

We were forced to do all those dances in High School in Canada, the gym teacher was from Firth. I just love bagipes (and men in Kilts  )

We had a ceilidh at our Christmas staff dinner last year. Great fun - but no men in kilts unfortunately mauverne. It's been a few years since I did these dances, so I did get a little dizzy with all the twirling around. You'll have to twirl me very gently.

I have to agree with you on the bagpipes. I love that music I wish there was some places locally that has them play once in a while.

The men in kilts is another thing some are pretty good but others I will take a pass on.

IMHO, kilts and beards almost always improve men. I like bagpipies too, but preferably outdoors and with about a quarter of a mile distance in between. A thousand years ago (at least) I was at a highland festival of some sort and was captive in a smallish auditorium where a pibroch contest was being hosted. Pibroch, for those of you who don't know, is a classical sort of bagpiping, and shows off virtuosity. But my poor ears: the great pipes and enclosed spaces Do Not Mix. :!:

Reminds me of a cartoon I saw once.
Picture this.....
A Piper in full Highland dress by the side of a Loch. In the distance a tourist bus disgorging it's tourists who are heading for the Piper. In the air above the Piper a huge cloud of Midges! One of the midges is saying.."Remember, don't bite the Decoy!"

Back to original thread topic (boy, do we get OT fast around here): is it my imagination or has the publicity made us very popular lately. It's wonderful to have so many newbies, although I can hardly keep everyone straight! Hope they stick around and post here and in the gallery. Wouldn't that be fun?!?
