very cross and upset

Post by photostitcher »

Just thought I would let some steam off in here with friends.

2 years ago as I got out of my car, my right knee gave way and hasn't been right since.

So far I have been to physio and on crutches. In September my doctor refered me to a specialist. I recieved the letter in March for yesterday. I took the day off of work as holiday, but seen as I haven't been there 3 months I don't get holiday pay.

I turned up at the hospital to find out my doctor had refered me to the wrong consultant. Instead of the knee doctor he sent me to a foot and ankle consultant instead.

I was sent home within 10 minutes of arriving and £3.50 out of pocket.

I now have to wait another 2 months before I see the knee consultant.

I am struggling at work because I am on my feet from 10 in the morning till 5 in the afternoon.

Ok rant over. Thank you for reading

That really s*cks! I'm so sorry to hear about that... hopefully it will be sorted soon, but with the way the health system is here, I rather doubt it.

I had a similar experience myself, not with my knee, but with the system...

I went to the docotr, she refered me to the hospital for an internal scan of my ovaries. 6 months passed, and finally I got a letter. All happy I skipped to the hospital (well... more like hunched over in pain! lol!)... to have an external scan. I was of course puzzled, but I am no doctor, so I though maybe they'd changed their minds and this was better. A month passed, and I heard nothing... I then went back to the doctor, who hadn't heard from the hospital! She was also shocked, that I had had an external scan, as that would be useless...

So, back on the waiting list I went. 3 months passed, and still nothing. I went back to my GP, she called the hospital, and they claimed I was supposed to have had it a month before! It would have helped if someone told me! Grrrrrr!

Anyway, they now actually sped things up, and a month later I got my internal scan... for them to then put me on a waiting list for a lap! And then it was another 6 months to wait for that... And they found nothing! *sobs* All that just to be told "either live with pain, or have a baby and hope the pain goes away, or have a hysterectomy and hope the pain goes away".

Sorry, photostitcher, I seem to have rambled on!

Anyway, I certainly hope things will speed up for you, and that you'll get the treatment you need for your knee soon. Hopefully you'll be doing the ballet in a few weeks time!

you guys are not they only ones who have problems/ We have the same problems here in Canada. There is a one year wait here for a Cat scan and there are no GP taking on any new patients here in Windsor so it you need a doctor you have to go to a clinic and wait hours to see the doc as they do not go by appointments. And the worst thing is 80% of our taxi drivers here are all doctors but are not allowed to practise here because they are not full Canadian citizens yet Now thats stupidity. We had a floor cleaner who came to Canada so that his son could have surgery (he is from Kenya). A really nice guy and as i was talking to him i found out that he dah a huge medical practice there, but no specialist for his son. So now er have a medical doctor cleaning floors. GRRRRRRR

Sorry here i am ranting . Just know that you are not alone in this

It is good to know you are not alone. It is just so frustrating. :(
