It is used for stitching on as is the plastic version of aida evenweave and linen. Or at least that is always what I assumed. :) I am sure others with more knowledge will tell you all about it.

I was wondering why people would prefer the perforated paper as opposed to aida or cloth?

usually used for ornaments or small tags. It can be cut into the shape of the design without any fraying or any other backing. I have received ornaments done with this. Some were backed with felt glued on and some were left as they were. I find they don't last long and they get folded easily (unless they are backed with something). Plastic canvas is better and serves the same purpose but they last .

I would recommend plastic canvas instead of perforated paper. Plastic lives forever, does not break in the process of stitching, and in general looks better. But then tastes differ.

I am finishing one of tree ornaments on plastic canvas Count 14, fingers hurt a little, but the result is always worth all the work.

happy stitching!

Both are stiff enough to be used for 3D stitched objects to be made (pot-pouri 'basket' was one example I saw, another was a stitched up 1" cube Christmas tree bauble). However, as everyone says, plastic canvas is much more durable.

Richard.

I enjoy using perforated paper for some things. Making tags, bookmarks or cards, for example. Also excellent for little beaded ornaments or brooches. No, it won't last forever, but it's easy to "finish", as Mauveme says. Being paper, it is much stiffer than cloth, and it can be cut into almost any shape and it's also possible to create 3-D pieces. Cheap and cheerful.

I'll use these either mounted on shiny card for gift tags or perhaps mounted on nice card stock.

They are gorgeous Serinde. Stil l don't think I would ever use paper ones though I have used plastic a time or two and it is hard on the hands but useful for ornaments etc..
