ABSENCE of STITCHING Update 24/22

Hello All you wonderful stitchers, I am still around just not stitching at present - ggrrrrrr. However it is in a good cause as I had my first cataract op on Saturday thanks to a wonderful caring private practice eye surgeon. A group of local eye surgeons who work from Mater Hospital have grouped together to help reduce the waiting list (just on a year for me).

So I am not allowed to bend over anything for 2 whole weeks !!!!!! Much easier said than done of course but I will try and be good, as it is so lovely to see clearly out one eye at least.

Are you allowed to crochet? From what I’ve been told by friends, it’s a pretty easy recovery and a life changing surgery.

Sally, please, behave yourself as the doctors told you to. Crafts(crochetting included) wont immigrate within two weeks, so you will catch up with them.
I wish you fast and excellent recovery. take care

Absolutely agree. Look after yourself -- or, more difficult, allow others to look after you! You have been given a gift of sight, after all; pretty precious among us crafting folk. :D

Look after yourself Sally - this is a gift too precious too spoil by impatience! (sorry if that sounds a bit preachy - I'm just saying it for your own good, young lady, as my grandmother never said :-) ) Hope you will soon be in a world filled with sharply defined, colourful wonderfulness

Yeah, we can. Isn't there supposed to be a bash going on at the Stash & Grab?

Isn't there almost always a bash of one kind or another going on at the Stash & Grab?? If not, I will be happy to get one going so we can keep Sally occupied until she can stitch again. Or we can use that as an excuse (as if we needed one) to get one going.

Two weeks of no bending, that would make it difficult to put socks on. Hope it goes quickly for you.
Two yrs ago my optometrist told me that he saw them starting, but all is still fine for me so far.
I had to stop stitching because of my shoulder, it's so sore and gets worse stitching so I am knitting a sweater for myself instead. I only got 4 bits for Christmas done this year for three important people unfortunately 6 kids are going without ornies this year.

Thank you all for your encouragement. :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

The hardest part of recovery I am finding is that I feel fine and my sight is good and so my head is saying get moving Christmas is almost here. However I am doing my best to fill the days with things which don't require bending head too much or close scrutiny.

I saw the surgeon again this morning for a final check and he says the film is a lot less and my vision has improved even in this week.
Best of all when I asked him when did he think I could start stitching again the answer was "when you feel like it I know of no timetable" just try it and if the eye is sore then stop and try again the next day.

sooooo next week I will try it and see. Do some hardanger motifs as that is easier on the eyes than cross stitch on aida I have found.
In the meantime bull steam ahead with the 3 D cards etc. Amazing how technology has changed things over the years.
