Paris?

Post by agi »

I am going to Paris for a few days in the end of October. Does anyone know some good needlework shops, yarn shops, fabric shops etc? Also, if there are some good museums or exhibitions where there are textiles I would love to visit.
The problem is I speak no French at all, so it is a bit difficult for me to search. I would appreciate any help.
(However, I am starting learning French today, we will see how far i can get in a month :D )
Would love to meet up for a coffee with any members living in Paris, too.

This is one...and the web-site has an English translation :applesauce:

https://www.bonheur-des-dames.biz/indexus.cfm" target="_blank

and another
https://www.lamercerieparisienne.com/en/" target="_blank also in English

As for speaking French, a lot of Parisiennes do speak some English I found. You should learn the words for Hello, please, thankyou and how much is this, as a start. I always find that if you can be polite and courteous you should get a positive response in return.

Paris is a lovely city, smaller than you might think and I found walking about to places quite possible...just need a comfortable pair of shoes!

Have Fun...wish I could get up there to meet up with you! :(

I have been to Paris once, and found that nobody knew English until you tried some French. If you tried, then suddenly they remembered lots. It is only reasonable that you should try the native language in the capital.

Sorry, I don't know any stitch shops, but the Bonheur des Dames looks like a great place to get Nimue kits - can't get anything more French than Nimue.

Richard.
