Stitching in Public Places
Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions on where to stitch in public places? We're having work done on our house and it's hard to concentrate on stitching (or anything really) when I can hear saws and hammering for most of the day. I'm trying to find a place that I can to while they're working that way I can stitch in relative peace. Any and all suggestions are welcome.
Re: Stitching in Public Places
Public libraries and university buildings come to mind.

How about a park bench in a calm spot or botanical gardens.

I stitch in our local library with a 'Knit & Natter' group every other week (in fact, this evening). Seems to be good.

It depends whether you prefer relative silence, or a bit of bustle. If the former, and weather allowing, I'd go with Sally's suggestion of a park bench every time! If the latter, a local coffee shop perhaps?

Local coffee shops are good, although you need to make sure you aren't taking a table during a busy lunch time. Also you need to do more than nurse a single coffee! Librarians rarely mind.
I spent Monday at GOMA -- Glasgow Museum of Modern Art -- which (due to a cancelled exhibition) was hosting the Embroiderers' Guild's National Day of Stitch. (OK, should have been Sunday, but the gallery wasn't available.) Great fun, met lots of nice people, and some foreign visitors stopped and had a play, too.

Library or park (one of my favorites).

I would go to a park or coffee shop myself. I hope that whatever they are making/ building will finish soon

I'd bring some headphones! I can't possibly stitch in dead quiet. I'd prefer Library or Coffee shop, Park would be nice, but out doors makes me wary for my supplies.
