PROBLEMS NOW FIXED. 30/7

Post by Squirrel »

with the central computer set up here at home - the modem has crashed just as SIL was leaving for the airport for his week's work down in Melbourne. So we are very restricted to his backup settings which means.

I will look in each day and comment on one or three posts and that will be it until he is home Saturday. Computers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum:

Me too. However to his opinion, computers need to be updated regularly.
After these updates, set up changes and often I cannot find my programmes.

That's the whole idea.
Computers are NOT tools, they are decorative items to be lavished with money, but never to be used.

Sorry, I seem to be growing more cynical as time goes on, and I just want something to 'work' when I want it to. And to keep working. And if it works properly, I want the IT guys just to leave the wretched thing alone. That way I can carry on programming my chart creation program without having to bother about anything else.

Regards,

Richard.

As my DH is fond of quoting, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Wise words too often ignored by people who want to fiddle with things "to make them work better"

My Grandad used to say exactly that!!

My D/H used to work in I.T. too and he comes to my aid when it all 'freezes' and goes pear-shaped....but he also grumbles about some of the new developments that have been made since he retired.
I'm working on Windows 7 and he uses a Linux system...he hates Windows systems. :tantrum:

Computers and cars, it's a love/hate relationship.
And the fun news is, I bought a new mouse, it's wireless and it's pink. (I killed my other one by dropping kicking it on the floor too many times, cord kept getting caught on things, therefore Wireless)

:whoop: :whoop: :whoop: SIL worked his magic again and we are back online until the modem really quits - which he says is well overdue. However he has added to his backup system ready.
It seems that the modem thingy he needs could take 1-4 weeks to be available so fingers crossed the fix lasts a long time.
